Club Reports: White Party, Sunshine Party (MSC Seascape)

Friday night it was time for another tradition that takes place on many cruise lines including MSC, The White Party.

MSC Seascape's animation team was on hand to get the party started.

Of course the idea at a White Party is to wear all white. A high percentage of passengers had the requisite clothing on this sailing. The way MSC does their White Party is an imaginary airplane traveling around the world and stopping in various countries where one song representing that country gets played. It's a family party so everyone is welcome.

On MSC's Seaside Class of ships, there's just one DJ on board for all the parties. On our sailing, DJ Jean Garrie (DR) had that job.

Since the cruise began in Miami, the first song represented the United States. And that song was "The Wobble", lol. That was followed by "Macarena" representing Spain and "We No Speak Americano" representing Italy even though it's an Australian song, wtf. We don't think anyone cared as long as they knew the words.

The party was taking place on the ship's pool deck on Deck 18 aft. It was packed to the rafters.

Germany was represented by "Will You Be My Girl (Ohh Ahh)" which is from Austria but we guess that's close enough. That's better than the "Chicken Dance" we've heard representing Germany on several MSC cruises.

"Gangnam Style" for South Korea.

The imaginary plane eventually circled back to the Caribbean and South America and a good time was had by all.

Such was not the case for last night's party called the "Sunshine Party".

MSC's version of a 70's & 80's Night, it takes place in the ship's Atrium on Decks 5-8 midship.

Through the atrium decorations we could see DJ Jean Garrie (DR) was back on duty.

But on prior MSC cruises the "Sunshine Party" has been absolutely packed. Last night, not so much.

Some animation team members danced on stage while a few danced down on the dance floor. Songs included "Hot Stuff", "Freak Out" and "Greased Lightning".

These viewing areas would typically be wall to wall on-lookers but not last night.

These two were representing the 70's! The woman would win the dance contest.

The show was supposed to run 45 minutes but they mercifully cut it off after 30 minutes. A good time was had by the few that were there.
