OMF Delayed?

Last March we enjoyed Okeechobee Music Festival down near Okeechobee, Florida. The festival took place following Insomniac selling it to a new owner with no festivals taking place in 2024 or 2025. Well, new ownership just sent out the flyer below indicating they hope to hold another OMF but they don't yet know when. Thus, the economics of holding large music festivals.

DS Update: Ghirardelli Booming

Fans of Ghirardelli have not had any problems locating their new temporary location beside the No. 2 Bridge to Pleasure Island in Disney Springs Town Center. It's been crowded during recent visits. This is in the former Sprinkles spot. No ice cream ATM though. Their permanent location in Disney Springs Marketplace is under heavy renovation until sometime early next year.

 

DS Update: Wolfgang Puck Has Closed

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in Disney Springs West Side has closed. This apparently occurred in mid-September. A replacement restaurant has not yet been announced. It was kind of in a poor location, positioned between the Exchange building and the massive Coca-Cola store. 

You may recall they used to have this large building along the main pathway on the West Side between Bongo's Cuban Cafe and House of Blues. It was mostly demolished and replaced by Spanish-restaurant Jaleo. 

 

Club Reports: Good Times, Morse Code, Barbarella @ The Axe Trap

We've returned back to Orlando after that quick trip to Cancun and began our club rounds. At our second stop, we found DJ Vint Soul (USA), DJ Mighty Shari (USA), DJ Scot Marc (USA) and DJ Johnnie Sebastian (USA) playing, having played or will play at Morse Code in downtown Winter Park. When we were out at Pleasure Island this past weekend we noticed the long lines that still exist outside Gideon's Bakehouse. Apparently, everyone wants sweets.

But no lines whatsoever outside new sister property Six Ravens. Apparently, no one wants coffyns?

We spent the entire evening inside Mannequins where the music came from the two guys at the far left as seen in our photo, DJ Dave Cannalte and DJ Peapod.

Breaking News: ADH Closing!

When we were out at Atlantic Dance Hall this past Friday night, we noticed that they had reduced their operating days to just 3X per week. But no one there told us, even if they knew, that Atlantic Dance Hall is permanently closing. And not much warning either. This coming weekend will be their final weekend. Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday and then it's done.

We first began going to ADH a few months after Pleasure Island closed. Lots of PI peeps attended those first few years. The place was always pretty empty and we wondered why it was there and why they didn't advertise their existence. We were told that Disney was contractually obligated to the nearby Swan and Dolphin hotels to provide them a dance club. With few exceptions, the place was usually dead. But these last few years we've really seen some large crowds there at times, even with no advertising. So it's a total surprise they're closing. Not as sad as when PI closed but sad nonetheless. WDW Update: Boardwalk Entertainment

We've been visiting Atlantic Dance Hall for all the years since Pleasure Island closed and there has never been any nightly entertainment out on the boardwalk. But for our past few visits over this summer, there has been free entertainment taking place outside the convenience store. We've seen music, we've seen a barbershop quartet, we've seen these comedians. Interesting.

Sapphire Lounge is a new club in the former Stonewall Bar spot next to the soccer stadium. An impressive show that sister website Orlando Entertainment News visited last night. Saturday night pics HERE.

Located where Jellyrolls once operated, replacement entertainment venue Hurly-Burly is scheduled to open on October 1st. Orlando Entertainment News was out there last night to get some outside photos which you can find HERE.

PI Update: I'm Here For The Hoopla!

It was two years ago this month that we visited Laguna Bar on the water behind Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. On that evening former Adventurers Club bartender Jessica was working and confirmed they have a secret drink menu inspired by Pleasure Island.

It helps if Jessica is working (Friday-Tuesday) when you visit because other cast members may not know about the secret drink menu. Just tell her, "I'm here for the Hoopla!" We need to get back out there to see if it still exists! Kungaloosh!

It was the summer of 2008 and we were just a few weeks away from the final night ever at Mannequins Dance Palace. It would soon be over.

DS Update: Springs Not Bubbling

During our most-recent visit to Disney Springs, we noticed that the springs of Disney Springs weren't bubbling. Typically, there were some spots within the springs where bubbling occurred to indicate these were springs. But there were no bubbles. Don't know if that was just that day or whether the springs bubbling has been turned-off permanently.

With all our recent travel, we've not had a chance to come back out to Disney Springs to check on Six Ravens, This is the daylight view with surprisingly no line compared to the line over at the original Gideon's Bakehouse.

You all remember SIN (Service Industry Nights) at House of Blues. You also remember when the Mouse put a stop to the weekly event. In more recent years, they have allowed an annual Labor Day Bash which includes former SIN resident DJ's Magic Mike (USA) and Jimmy Joslin (USA).
