Concert Report: Orlando All-Stars (The Beacham)

Thanksgiving Eve in the United States and that can only mean one thing: Time for that beloved annual tradition at The Beacham, the AAHZ Reunion.

Except this year instead of the usual AAHZ show it became the Orlando All-Stars show with many of Orlando's greatest DJ's ever performing!

We usually arrive fashionably late to this event but when we heard DJ Dave Cannalte (USA) would be doing an 8TRAX Disco set, we arrived as early as traffic allowed.

Of course when you're the opener for any show, the dance floor can be a bit spartan.

This was our first visit to The Beacham since they removed the two large bars that used to occupy this space towards the rear of the dance floor and added tables and chairs. The bars were relocated to both side walls near the entrance. The move definitely opens up the space.

Back on beautiful Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney, Cannalte was not only the Thursday night "Castmember Night" DJ at Mannequins Dance Palace but also a regular DJ at 70's/80's club 8TRAX.

We heard great songs like "Boogie Man", "To Be Real" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love". OEN will have full coverage of this weekend's "World's Largest Disco" event in Buffalo because you know we love Disco!

Last night's show moved rapidly with each DJ playing 40-50 minute sets. Up next was DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA) who used to be a resident DJ here when the club was called Tabu.

His set was advertised as "Roller Skating Jams" like we used to shuffle to at the rink back in the day.

The lasers began firing.

And dance floor activity began picking-up as the queue outside worked its way in.

We heard songs like "She's a Bad Mama Jama", AEIOU and Sometimes Y" and "Let The Music Play".

Jimmy Joslin sets are always crammed with nostalgia!

Up next in the 9:40PM slot was DJ BMF (USA).

His set was advertised as a "Phat N' Jazzy" set.

And he was the beneficiary of an increasingly jammed dance floor.

He had the dance floor bouncing.

BMF was voted "Best Club DJ" in Orlando by Orlando Weekly readers back in 2018 and second best last year.

You can often find him doing different-themed nights at Lil' Indies.

Up next, the only tag-team set of the night.

DJ Cliff T (USA) and DJ Carlos Mendoza (USA) both playing off vinyl.

By now the club was packed to the rafters!

Their set was preadvertised as a "Y2K" set.

Cliff delivering us an electronic dance version of "Another Brick In The Wall".

The Beacham has numerous shiny disco balls so you know the place is legit.

Carlos taking over next for his segment.
Some of his classic selections included "Toca's Miracle" and "Every Day".

Carlos was the opening DJ on the neonGARDEN Stage at EDC-Orlando earlier this month.

Known for his booming fast-paced Minimal/Techno sets, he calmed it down last night.

We ran into so many peeps last night from the scene. Some were new but most we knew.

It was already 11:15PM and the Ice Man cometh.

DJ Icey (USA)

Dance floor was absolutely packed!

His set was advertised as an "All Remixes" set.

First time seeing Icey play since the "Labor Day Bash" at House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista back at the end of August.

Huge roar from the crowd when he played "Insomnia" with that song's amazing drop.

You could cut the vibe with a knife.

We're told next Thanksgiving Eve this night will return to the usual AAHZ format but that it will be the final AAHZ Reunion. We hope they change their mind.

More peeps!

Now past midnight and time for the instigator of AAHZ.

DJ Kimball Collins (USA)

Dance floor stayed jammed.

Appropriately enough, doing an AAHZ anthems set.

Back in the late 80's & early 90's, AAHZ was a club night right here in what then was called The Beacham Theater. And Kimball was one of the "wizards of AAHZ".

All too soon it was 1AM but no one was leaving just yet.

Taking us into the wee hours, DJ Magic Mike (USA).

Several commented about him playing off CDJ's instead of his usual equipment.

Such a fun night!

His set last night completely what he's known for: Breaks & Bass.

We last saw him play just a few weeks ago in Jacksonville at DJ The Manti's (USA) wedding reception.

Orlando All-Stars indeed! A good time was had by all.
