| Back in 2009 or less than a year after Mannequins closed, Destiny Nightclub opened at the corner of Universal Blvd & Carrier Drive. With so few venues in Orlando playing Mannequins style of music (electronic), it was going to be a breath of fresh air to the local scene. The very first concert to take place was headlined by DJ Paul Oakenfold (GB) with DJ Sandra Collins (USA) the opener. I was so excited I was there the morning tickets went on sale and I had ticket #001. Sadly, the club was just too big for Orlando and it did not remain in business very long. It's doubly sad when you think how big electronic dance music became a few years after they shut down. |
The building is apparently still there but looks dramatically different now. This Google Streetview image shows the current elevation. Notice the pillars.

Not sure if the building is still there as that entire area has become a mecca for hotels and resorts.
