PI Update: The Party That Never Happened

Back in early 2009, five months after Pleasure Island closed but during rumors that club Motion and Soundstage were available for private rentals, we submitted a proposal to Disney Events about holding a Mannequins night inside the Soundstage (formerly BET Soundstage) club. The above was a sample flyer for the event. We would have had Mannequins DJ Peapod (USA) playing the music we used to hear inside Mannequins Dance Palace. The response from the Mouse via our Events rep was a resounding NO. While in recent years Disney has kind of embraced the idea that they used to operate nightclubs, in those early years post-closure the mere mention of clubs on Disney property made you a persona non grata. It was definitely a sore subject.
