Trip Report: Tokyo DisneySea

We finally have a break in the action and have time to upload photos from this visit to the Tokyo DisneySea theme park outside Tokyo, Japan. We'll begin with a tutorial on reaching the park without paying $60-$75 for a taxi. Make your way via the Tokyo Metro to Hatchōbori Station or Tokyo Station and switching to the JR East Line.

Your destination on a JR East train is Maihama Station.

That station is adjacent to Disney's Resort Gateway Station. Here you can walk to both Disney theme parks or instead take the Disney Resort Line monorail to either park. Please note that unlike Walt Disney World and Disneyland, a monorail ride here costs ¥300 each way (about $2).

There's a train every 5 minutes or so.

So cute!

The trains operate in a counter-clockwise direction with Tokyo Disneyland the first stop and Tokyo DisneySea at the third stop.

Trouble ahead! These were the queues outside the theme parks! Once on the ground, it took an hour to get inside. Lesson: Don't go on weekends.

Once inside DisneySea, this revolving globe is reminiscent of Universal Studios. Universal Japan has their park in Osaka.

The Mouse and other Disney characters are here.

Tokyo DisneySea is dominated by the amazing Jules Verne-themed Mysterious Island "land".

There are two rides, a gift shop and restaurant within the caldera.

We're not going to spoil the fun by showing you very much detail but the park's highlight to me is the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" ride which takes you deep into the volcano.

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is also here.

The elevated "DisneySea Electric Railway" transverses between two lands.

The S.S. Columbia dominates the "American Waterfront" land.

"Tower of Terror" is here too! Other rides in the park include "Indiana Jones: Temple of the Crystal Skull", "Sinbad's Storybook Voyage" and in the brand new Fantasy Springs land, "Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey" and "Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure". Mostly different from anything in Orlando's four Disney parks.

There's very little western food at the park's restaurants. Even this popcorn wagon wasn't the popcorn you're familiar with. This one sold garlic-scallop flavored popcorn, lol.

But such a great theme park and a good time was had by all.
