Club Reports: Encounter Hotel, Lobby Bar, Piano Bar 88, Altitude Nightclub (Carnival Encounter)

By now you know that if we’re traveling we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities or ships we’re on. We're currently traveling on Carnival Encounter sailing from Brisbane, Australia and headed to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Last night we wandered the ship looking at the various entertainment offerings. We began at a show lounge called Encounter Hotel on Deck 7 midship.

A live band was playing and the place was packed.

Lollies Band (RI)

We heard Rock tunes such as "Living On A Prayer".

Karaoke would follow and it gets even more crowded!

We next headed to the ship's atrium where a duo was playing down on Deck 5 midship.

Uncle & The Vagabond (RI)

They were playing Soft Rock hits such as "Bridge Over Troubled Waters", "Jack & Diane" and "Mr. Bojangles".

All the seats on all decks of the atrium were occupied.

Back we went to Deck 7 and Piano Bar 88.

Mostly empty when we first arrived but it would fill during our visit.

The Encounter Showband (RP)

They were playing no vocals Funk and Jazz Fusion. Our favorite was AWB (GB) classic hit "Pick Up The Pieces".

We had attended 70's/80's Night earlier in the cruise at Altitude Nightclub, Deck 18 aft. We returned last night for 90's Night.

Although we arrived only ten minutes after they opened, the bar was already jammed.

Always great to see DJ Bivi (CO) delivering the music.

No drinks on the dance floor! Those lighted sections are made of glass.

We had heretofore heard no American Hip Hop on this ship but with this being 90's Night, when Hip Hop was actually good, we heard several classic hits such as "Baby Got Back" (1992), "Whoomp, There It Is" (1993) and "This Is How We Do It" (1995).

This Australian group explained to me that the birthday boy (center) wore a shirt with photos of each member of his krewe while krew members themselves each wore a shirt with photos only of the birthday boy. Awesome!

We also heard other classic 90's hits such as "Genie In A Bottle" (1999), "Wannabe" (1996) and "Ice Ice Baby" (1990). Everywhere we went last night on this ship, a good time was had by all.
