Club Report: Sail-Away Party, Altitude Nightclub (Carnival Encounter)

When we last sailed on this ship in 2016, it was known at Star Princess for Princess Cruises. Subsequently, she was moved to sister company P&O Australia as Pacific Encounter and about two months ago to Carnival Cruise Lines as Carnival Encounter.

By now you know that if we’re traveling we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities or ships we’re on. We're on the ship doing a 7-nt sailing out of Brisbane, Australia. And of course day one always begins with the Sail-Away Party, this one on Deck 14 midship.

There are two DJ's on board and pre-party Top 40 music came from by DJ Bivi (CO).

With Sail-Away Party music from DJ JD Movements (JA).

The party began at 3PM with Cruise Director George (GB).

And the Carnival Fun Team!

The music included the usual cruise suspects such as the "Cha Cha Slide".

"Conga"

"Feel The Beat" & "Sweet Caroline".

The pool deck was packed to the rafters!

Another fun sail-away party and a good time was had by all.

Located on Deck 18 aft, Altitude Nightclub is the ship's dance club.

The ship's elevators take you as far as Deck 17 and then this travelator or two walkways bring you the rest of the way up to the club. If you look at the first photo in today's article, you can see the club's location up high at the rear of the ship. It's pretty cool.

It was 70's/80's Night at Altitude and it was great to find DJ Bivi (CO) in the perch.

Opening at 11PM, we arrived to find just one couple on the raised dance floor.

But that changed almost instantaneously as Divi mixed 70's hits such as Dancing Queen (1975), Stayin' Alive (1977) and Disco Inferno (1976) with 80's hits such as Footloose (1984), You Give Love A Bad Name (1986) and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (1984). So fun!

The bar began seeing some activity.

When we sailed on this ship as Star Princess the club was known as Skywalker's.

Fond memories of DJ Pedro (P) leading the festivities on that sailing.

The 70's/80's party only lasted until midnight and then DJ Bivi switched the music over to EDM. We heard some great Dance/House songs such as Calvin Harris (GB) hit "One Kiss", Dua Lip (AL/GB) hit "Don't Start", Daft Punk (F) "One More Time" and Dom Dolla (AUS) "Save Your Love For Me".

A good time was had by all.
