DS Update: 'Round The Springs

With Pleasure Island the bore that it is, let's cross this bridge one more time and leave the Island. Destination the West Side!
We're sad to report that Curl by Sammy Duval is closing forever this Thursday.
You may recall the shop, located in a Splitsville outparcel, opened in January, 2013.
Previous to that, the store operated on the Island beside 8TRAX in this building that was ultimately demolished. Prior to Curl it housed Superstar Studios, a place you could record your own songs onto a vinyl record. Big thanks to Blog-reader Troy for alerting us to this!
Another similarly-themed store, the more-famous Ron Jon Surf Shop, is to open in this spot in Disney Springs Town Center adjacent the Lime Garage, in late 2019.
We reported last month about the closing of Something Silver in this West Side spot. Amazing Pictures is operating a popup shop right now but sources say Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery will be opening here. They currently operate a shop at Disney's Boardwalk Resort. You may recall that Sosa Cigars used to be here before Something Silver.
Bongos Cuban Cafe is here until this weekend and then it will shutter to be replaced Beatrix, a Chicago-based healthy food restaurant chain.
Much of the existing structure including Bongos iconic pineapple is likely to be demolished.
