Following the huge success of a venue called Mather's Social Gathering, the trend downtown has been to build other "social" venues that are upscale beautiful rooms for beautiful people. Thus, we have the recently opened The Robinson and now McQueens Social Lounge. |
By "social venue" we mean a place where you can gather with friends or a date for chit chat, rather than a dance club. |
McQueens is located directly above Bullitt Bar, a venue themed after the 1968 film of the same name. It starred actor Steve McQueen. |
Not that there isn't a DJ. Up on the third floor we found DJ Caesar (USA) overlooking the crowd below and playing mostly light Hip Hop. |
McQueens has some interesting theming such as this wall of skulls. |
And spider web-encassed chandeliers. |
There are a few other surprises along the way. Come check it out for yourself! |
You know by now if it's at all possible on a Saturday night, I'm going to drop by Independent Bar! |
Just as it should be on a Saturday night, DJ Indie John (USA) in the perch playing 80's New Wave! |
Dance floor jammed as it usually is! |
All ages, all persuasions, it's the music everyone knows the words to! |
Always a fun time at I-Bar! Come experience it for yourself. |
A few miles east of downtown on Robinson Street is a separate bar/club area known as the Milk District. And it's here you'll find the Iron Cow. |
Advertised as a night of 80's/90's freestyle music you used to rollerskate to, I approached expecting maybe 30 people in the club. I opened the door and OMG, encountered several hundred! |
DJ BMF (USA) leading the night! |
So many memories being played in quick succession! |
I kind of stood there in awe as music videos played with a lot of the songs! |
I checked the
Blog's archives and this is the first time I've seen BMF since 2013 at
The Abbey.
What a great event and a good time was had by all. |
