Club Reports: Daylight Festival @ SOBOX, Best Of Breaks @ Iron Cow

You've seen us post a couple times about the early morning monthly "House & Coffee" that takes place in Orlando's Creative Village. And there's now an even larger quarterly music festival that's taking place at the SOBOX Food Hall in Orlando's Packing District. And that's where we began our Saturday.

While "House & Coffee" is generally free, there is a nominal charge to attend this event at SOBOX if you get your tickets in advance. It opened promptly at 10AM and there was already a queue.

It was hard to get pics of the two Door Hostesses in the unrelenting summer sun.

There's a large parking garage for the facility but it fills fast so you've got to arrive at the beginning.

Walk-up restaurants line both sides of the large room, reminiscent of a mall food court. Pretty much every genre of food is represented.

Drinks too!

A number of vendors were located outside, many giving away their logo merchandise.

But this event is all about the House music and there were two areas of music.

In the food hall portion of the building we found DJ Dos Santos (USA) in the booth.

House music, of course!

The second area of music is in the cleverly-named Main Room.

The opening DJ gets a small opening crowd as patrons who have never been here before explore.

DJ Cole Stanton (USA)

We had seen him play at "House & Coffee" last month.

Mostly bros at this early juncture, lol.

Dance floor becoming populated.

They have a shiny disco ball here so you know the place is legit.

Everyone was doing one hour sets so at 11AM DJ Eric Sierra (USA) took over in the food hall.

First time seeing him play.

Meanwhile in the Main Room, it was getting crowded.

DJ Cruz Control (USA) had taken over.

We last saw Cruz Control when he opened for DJ Sam Collins (D/NL) at Proper downtown this past April.

His set yesterday morning had everyone bouncing.

Such a great vibe at these daytime House events.

Spotted in the food hall: Laura. We hadn't seen her since she was spotted on a rooftop in South Beach last March during Miami Music Week.

Spotted outside: DJ Chino (USA) and Laura

Spotted outside selling: Amber from Oliv Bar with colleague.

Spotted in VIP: VIP's

Spotted getting ready to take the stage: Antonia with friend

And at noon, there they were! DJ's Antonia Rivano (USA) and DJ Accentra (USA).

If you were still sleepy at this early hour, their animated House set would definitely wake you up!

Gen Z doesn't want to go out at night but they're loving these daytime parties.

Bubble music!

Such an amazing experience! Come check it out.

We had to leave at this point to meet friends for lunch and when we returned, there was no parking available in the garage nor anywhere else nearby. Next time we'll stay at SOBOX for lunch! We've not yet seen the next date for this amazing event but we'll keep you posted. The next daytime House & Coffee at Qreate is on Saturday, September 6th with free entry tickets here. And there will be a daytime pizza pop-up House party at Pigzza Pizza on Mills Avenue on Saturday, September 27th with free tickets here.

The show would run to 5PM. House music all day long and a good time was had by all.

Daytime turned into nighttime as we moved from the Packing District to the Milk District, home of the Iron Cow.

We arrived shortly after the 9PM opening time to find DJ David Venture (USA) in the booth.

His set was mostly Breaks with some Electro and I swear I heard a bit of Dubstep in there, lol.

Openers often play to empty rooms but that was not the case last night.

Dance floor actually had a small crowd on it at this early hour.

Iron Cow has a shiny disco ball so you know the place is legit.

10PM arrived so quickly and DJ Davie D (USA) took over the booth.

His set included a lot of Vocal tracks which we love.

Dance floor dancing slots were quickly filling in.

He also included a Breakbeat version of Darude (FIN) classic "Sandstorm".

It was great to see this Tampa-based DJ back playing in Orlando.

The crowd continued to build.

At 11PM, one of the instigators of this event: DJ Tooltime (USA)

Listening to one of his sets can be similar to listening to Orlando's former Dance radio station, 95.3PartyThat station operated in a Dance radio format for a few years around the turn of the century. And back then, so many of the Dance hits were Breakbeats.

But he also delivered some Breaks versions of more contemporary songs such as Dom Dolla (AUS) hit "Girl$" and John Summit (USA) hit "Human". His set definitely engaged the dance floor!

Wall-to-wall down there as midnight approached.

The bar is approachable from three sides and it stayed jammed all night.

Spotted backstage: Go Go Dancer Kriss Reign (USA).

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls.

We ran into so many peeps from the dance scene. Some were new but most we knew.

After his set, DJ Davie D with DJ Chris Craze (USA).

DJ Davie D with David Noller of Dynamix II (USA) and Kriss Reign.

DJ Davie D with this street gang out on the street!

Florida of course is known as a haven for Breakbeats but another area where it remains dominant is in Spain. This group from Breakbeat Andaluz was visiting The Cow last night!

OK, it was midnight and there he was, the headliner.....

DJ Deekline (GB)

The first half was mostly on the Breaks side.

The second half, mostly on the Drum & Bass side.

Dancers sometimes in a frenzy when Deekline dropped some Jungle.

Crowd was moving fast to the fast-paced set!

He played an 80 minute set with the final DJ switch taking place around 1:20AM.

DJ Audia (USA) closing out the night.

And what did she play? More DnB!

It was a great show and a good time was had by all.
