Concert Report: 808 On 8/08 (Club Space Miami)

Ranked #24 in the world by DJMag readers, this is Club Space in downtown Miami.

Space has three areas of music; their famous rooftop terrace, another mostly House club called Floyd and on the ground floor, The Ground. Last night, the biggest names were playing at The Ground.

We were wondering if we were going to make it in time. Due to bad thunderstorms around Orlando International Airport last night, our flight was suffering from rolling delays that kept pushing back departure an hour at a time. So we cancelled the flight and took the Brightline train instead. Arriving at Club Space after 1AM, we walked into this!

The headliner was already on when we finally made it inside.

DJ Icey (USA)

Playing some great turn-of-the-century dance hits such as "Escape" and "Beachball".

DJ Icey joins fellow legends Magic Mike, Baby Anne, Kimball Collins and Jimmy Joslin at The Labor Day Bash on Sunday, August 31st at House of Blues in Disney Springs, Lake Buena Vista. Advance tickets here.

The dance floor was jammed and exceeded expectations.

People as far back as the eye could see!

A generally younger crowd too than we usually see at Breaks events.

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls.

Dancer Kriss Reign (USA) was in the club!

We spotted many peeps from the South Florida and Central Florida Breaks scenes. (Actually, they spotted me!)

Coming in next for his 2AM set and carrying a famed Roland TR-808 machine.....

Egyptian Lover (USA)

He was much more animated last night than I recall him being when we last saw him during Miami Music Week 2024 at "The Get Down" event.

Hearing the 808 live on 8/08.

Otherwise last night, his music was off vinyl.

Dance floor got crazy for his biggest hit, "Egypt, Egypt".

Egyptian Lover would do a 50 minute set and then hug the next two DJ's taking over.

A tag team set from DJ Soltek (USA) and DJ Sel.6 (USA).

Considering her young age, Sel. 6 had an impressive grasp of classic Breaks sounds.

Soltek delivering a great mashup of the DJ Si-Dog (USA) remix of "Planet Soul".

Club Space is open all night and it's where we once experienced our first 7AM gin & Tonics. The show here at The Ground would only run until 4AM at which time we headed back to the Brightline station for the first morning train back to Orlando.

Thank you Soltek for the professional courtesies. Impressive show and a good time was had by all.
