Trip Report: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

We don't have any Pleasure Island news to report so instead we'll show you some pics from our bus tour of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Three ships in port; my ship MSC Bellissima at the far left joined by Norwegian Spirit and MSC Lirica.
A thoroughly modern nation!
The skyline dominated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) "can opener" building along with other iconic structures.
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and that is the National Palace off in the distance. The UAE is a federation of 7 emirates located to the east of and sharing a long border with Saudi Arabia.
The highlight of the tour was the 8th largest mosque in the world, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
The entrance is about a half mile from the mosque itself and leads directly into an underground complex.
Which includes a small mall with shops and restaurants.
But the tour leads into the mosque itself and the facility is incredible!
And it is stunningly beautiful.
The names on the wall are the 99 names for God (Allah) as described in the Quran. The one space near the top is blank because one only learns God's real name when you meet him after death.
In the main prayer hall, this carpet is considered the world's largest. It was made in Iran and weighs 35 tons.
One can't visit the Middle East without eating some sweet dates. A good time was had by all.
