Now an annual tradition during Miami Music Week, taking a day trip from Port Miami over to the island of Bimini in the Bahamas is a must-do event. There is a ferry that operates 4-5 times per week operated by FRS-Caribbean and travel time is just two hours.
Golf cart rentals are available at the dock in Bimini and can be had for $50 from the vendors there. (Don't book a rental on the boat where they charge you $75.)
But whether you rent a cart or not, the day trip includes a mandatory $10 charge for a wristband to use the Resorts World Bimini Hilton resort and it's pools and other facilities.
There is also a casino here.
With a golf cart, you have the run of the island. Alice Town is the largest town.
CJ's is famous for their home cooking and I had delicious freshly-battered fried chicken and fries!
There is a small eating area overlooking Radio Beach.
They'll slice open a fresh coconut and fill it with rum!
Delicious!
Brisk winds during my visit led to relatively large waves.
But otherwise it was a sunny, warm day in Bimini.
Also in Alice Town, a bank named after me!
Another required stop is Nate's Bimini Breads in Baily Town, where everyday he bakes a variety of amazing breads. If you're on the day trip, you'll want to bring home a loaf!
Bimini Bliss for sure yesterday! But Saturday has arrived and it's back to the clubs!
