Las Vegas has long had nightclubs and long had DJ's but it was the
Palms Casino Resort that changed the equation in 2008 when it signed DJ Paul Oakenfold (GB) to a multi-year residency at its club
Rain. According to the
Las Vegas Sun, that signing "has been credited with transforming the city’s dance scene from Top 40 Pop to electronic rhythms and superstar DJs." Because of Oakenfold, every casino had to have a nightclub and every nightclub had to have big name DJ's performing. It is part of the many factors that led to the DJ culture we live in today, not only in Las Vegas but everywhere. Of course times change and
Rain closed in 2012 and the
Palms has operated with smaller venues since then. Until this coming April!
Because that is when
KAOS will open as a 73,000ft pool/dayclub and 29,000ft nightclub. According to
Las Vegas Weekly, it will have a rotating DJ booth that will give new meaning to "Who's spinning tonight?" Unlike others, it will have a moveable dome so that the dayclub can operate year-round and in inclement weather. Located at the Palms, some of the resident DJ's announced will include Kaskade (USA), Skrillex (USA) and Above & Beyond (GB).

We hope to be able to check out KAOS as soon as possible! |
