PI Update: Nothing New

Hadn't been out to Pleasure Island since the big freeze in January so it was good to get back out there and see all the renovations taking place. But over at 8TRAX......nothing.

Mannequins Dance Palace.....nothing. Motion.....nothing.

Celebrate Tonight was going on but there weren't many participants.

My biggest island surprise was looking up into the Celebrate Tonight booth and seeing DJ Talie from Motion at the helm! She came down to visit and posed with John, formerly of Mannequins and now of Laffers Cantina. Even in that Celebrate Tonight costume she looked damn good. Both hope to make it to the PI Reunion over at Atlantic Dance this Saturday night. Meanwhile, over on the West Side yet another empty storefront as Planet Hollywood On Location closed Feb 1st.

That's why it's so messed up they rushed to close the damn place in 2008...and NOTHING has happened since then.
I think some high level execs made some bad decisions and won't admit they f'ed up since it would harm their reputations or egos.
AT LEAST open the frickin' place for special events. Could you imagine how much money they would have made opening MDP for a "hard ticket event" "Summer Kickoff Party" the first weekend in June??

Right. Shortsighted Management Decisions.

As another reader said "Celebrate the Blight!"

Looks like Downtown Disney will begin to resemble "the haunted mansion". Just a bunch of bones and spirits dancing in the streets.

Does everyone remember the Munsters on TV? That is what Downtown Disney will resemble. Just a Ball of hay and dust blowing around in the courtyard............

Three clubs (Motion, Soundstage and Adventurers Club) were available for special events via private rentals through September 30th. I don't recall anyone renting Soundstage but the other two hosted a number of semi-public events. I did try to rent Soundstage for a Mannequins Reunion featuring DJ Peapod but Disney turned me down.
