DS Update: Those Confusing New Restaurants

First The Boathouse opened, then Morimoto Asia opened.  Looks like STK (pictured above) will be next.  Facing West End Plaza / Celebration Plaza, the multi-level venue sits on the cliff roughly where Comedy Warehouse used to stand.

Much more confusing are the locations for other announced restaurants. Located near the turn of Western Springs, we believe this is going to be Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza.  Also notice the construction site on the near side of the springs. We'll talk about that in a moment.

Notice what appears to be a separate building on the right.  This pic also gets a look at the construction site on the near side of the springs.  This too is a restaurant site located between STK and the springs.  It can either be Frontera Fresco by Rick Bayless or Homecoming by Art Smith.

Whichever one it isn't will probably go to this site adjacent the No. 2 Bridge and directly across from Morimoto Asia.  We're not sure which restaurant is which.

This building to the left of the No. 2 Bridge at Central Springs has previously been identified as Sprinkles cupcake bakery.  But it sure seems awful large to be a cupcake store!  The brown building to its rear is supposedly Pandora.

And that springs branch between it and the Welcome Center.

And here possibly the Burger Shop, Disney Burger, In-N-Out or whatever it's going to be called! Frankly, we just don't know. There are 6 large buildings, 4 if you leave out the Welcome Center & Sprinkles. In reality, we just don't know what restaurants are going where!

PI Update: Bridges To The Island

Being the island that it is, Pleasure Island has always been a land of bridges connecting the outside world with the fun. And while there no longer is much pleasure on the Island, the bridges will still be the way to connect to the so-called Landing area. The bridges begin between Fulton's & T-REX Cafe.  This is the No.1 Bridge and it's where Village Lake water on the near side ends and the springs of Disney Springs begin.

The Eastern Springs section begins here.  As you know, until Disney releases official names for the springs, the Blog has given them directional names.

The springs head west towards Mannequins.

The new No. 2 Bridge replaced the much-wider Mannequins Bridge in roughly the same spot.

Behind STK, the new No. 3 Bridge connects the Town Center to the lower level of Pleasure Island. The former No. 3 Bridge located here was castmember only and connected the PI parking lot to a service area behind Comedy Warehouse.  This bridge traverses the area between Central and Western Springs.

It is here at Western Springs that the water makes a 90° turn back towards the lake.

The new No. 4 Bridge adjacent Planet Hollywood.  It connects Disney Springs West Side to the lower level of Pleasure Island.  Notice that the spring water ends at this bridge and lake water is on the near side.

Formerly the No. 4 Bridge and now the No. 5 Bridge, this also connects the West Side to Pleasure Island but to the Island's upper level.  This is an original bridge and we don't know yet how it will be renovated to fit into the new railroad theme of the area.

Closer to the lake, two temporary bridges.  At the top we see the construction bridge used to bring materials and equipment to the site of The Edison, Walt's and the Neverland Tunnels.  At the bottom, the Pleasure Island Bypass Causeway is still partly in place and is used to service Paradiso 37.  And that concludes our look at the PI bridges and springs.  Tomorrow a look at some of the new food options going into the area.

First saw Pierce Fulton (USA) at EDC-Orlando in 2012 & he's at Attic Nightclub Thursday night.  EDM.

As we went to press one could get 2 tickets for just $10 to this added event Thursday night at Tier Nightclub; DJ's Craze (USA) & Thugli (CDN). Trap/Bass.

FRIDAY JAN 29
The legendary DJ George Acosta (USA) returns to O-town Friday night at Peek Downtown! Electrohouse.

"Lost In Trancelation" keeps killing it with their shows and this Friday they have Mark Sherry (GB) joining Suzy Solar (USA) & Robb Blak! Trance.

Friday night at Sandwich Bar they have a solid lineup of DJ's Robby Clark, Mathew Scot & Lola B.  House.

SATURDAY JAN 30
Calling all breakers to Peek Downtown for DJ Fixx, illDJChrisB, Matrix and many more!  Breaks.

For House & Deep House on Saturday night, guest DJ Chad Andrew (USA) joins Renzo Ruiz & Skylar at Sandwich Bar!

Genre-mixing DJ duo Loudpvck (USA) is playing Saturday night at Gilt Nightclub but also Friday night at Amphitheatre in Tampa and Thursday night at Simon's in Gainesville. Trap & Dubstep.

Another choice on Saturday night is Drumsound (GB) & Bassline Smith (USA) at The Social.  Another genre-mixing show, melding fast Drum & Bass beats with Pop vocals!

For those Trance fans closer to Tampa, Amphitheatre in Ybor City has DJ Dash Berlin (NL) above the revolving dance floor this Saturday night!

DS Update: Shop Till You Drop

Turning on the Blog's SkyCam, our eye-in-the-sky over Disney Springs!

Disney Springs Town Center is moving rapidly towards completion.  This section will house the enclosed mall-type section.  It sits besides Planet Hollywood and the new bus circles.

As shown in the exclusive concept art we previously published, most of the Town Center will feature outdoor shopping promenades.

As you walk the area, there will often be more than one route to take to get to the other side.  This will make it appear to be larger than it is, not that it's small.  Indeed, it is large.

The section behind the new cupcake store.  Notice how the springs has a tributary that branches up into this area!  We published a photo of this tributary last September before the area got built-up, as shown here.

This is the central area of the Town Center.

Of course Disney Springs Town Center wraps all the way around T-REX Cafe to Disney Springs Marketplace to where McDonald's / Pollo Campero once stood.

The World of Coca-Cola building continues to move along too.  It seems to feature a rooftop patio of sorts although it's not near the springs.

And it does now sport a Coca Cola sign on the side facing the theater.  Concept art shows at least two sides of the building encased in a glass exoskeleton.  Thursday on the Blog we'll give you an updated sky view of the beautiful springs and bridges.

PI Update: Neverland Tunnels Project

A beautiful Orlando afternoon in the 60's, and what better place to spend it than beautiful Pleasure Island!

The Neverland Tunnels project remains cloaked in mystery.

Located directly below West End Plaza / Celebration Plaza, it used to be home to Pleasure Island offices and a castmember snack bar.

There has been no dramatic progress since we posted exclusive pictures last November of the interior showing new electrical conduit and sheetrock.

There has been no official announcement from Disney.  What we do know came from Scott Joseph's Orlando Restaurant Guide last September which stated it will be a bar/lounge for lost boys!  Prior to that the Blog was just referring to the speculative project as "The Tunnels".
