Club Reports: PI Street Party, STK, The Edison, Atlantic Dance Hall

We don't often visit Pleasure Island anymore on a Saturday night like we used to back in the day. But let's cross this bridge one more time to check out what's on the other side!
The Island's Waterview Stage is home to a street party every Friday and Saturday night.
Last night we found DJ G Swagg (USA) running the show!
It's an all-ages Dance party so you never know what you'll find!
The music is old and new Top 40 hits.
Showing everyone how it's done!
It's always a fun time for the largely tourist crowd. Waterview Stage is located in the area where Rock'n'Roll Beach Club used to be.
Up at the top of Hill Street is the steak house STK.
Here we found DJ Marc Sparcs (USA) on the decks.
This is primarily a restaurant with the music providing a background.
But the bar scene is active too and while it was kind of subdued during my visit, I've seen some craziness in here too! STK is located where Comedy Warehouse once stood.
Across West End Plaza from STK you'll find The Edison.
Located in a heavily-renovated building that once housed the Adventurers Club, it's a restaurant during the day but becomes more of a dance club late at night.
The house band "Pearl Street Players" were on when I first arrived.
The venue's theme is roaring 20's so a lot of the ladies like to dress in Flapper style but it's not required. But it tends to be upscale and I felt a bit out-of-place in a t-shirt.
Between sets and after the band ends for the evening, DJ Mynd (USA) takes over!
The music is primarily Top 40 but he mixes in a little Latin and
EDM hits!
Guys, it was about 75% female last night and that's not unusual!
It ain't the Pleasure Island as we knew it but you can definitely have a fun time here!
OK, leaving Disney Springs and heading a few miles west to Disney's Boardwalk Resort.
It's home to Disney's only remaining owned and operated dance club, Atlantic Dance Hall.
DJ Willie (USA) on a Saturday night!
And oh wow, it was actually crowded in here!
ADH is so cavernous that it's hard to seem full, but it really did last night!
The Top 40 video format had everyone bouncing!
The DJ booth has been moved back off the stage to the rear of the dance floor near the main bar.
Atlantic Dance Hall is open nightly except Sundays & Mondays and admission is free.
A good time was had by all.

Club Reports: MamaJuana, Bikkuri Lounge, Celine

Second visit to MamaJuana since their name and concept change from Vinyl Arts Bar.
DJ Thomas James (USA) on the decks playing Tech House.
The dance floor at this early hour was vacant but the bar area was busy. This is the only place in town where you can get that famed Dominican drink mamajuana!
DJ Fobia (USA) taking over next and going more Progressive on us.
Dance floor activity then picked up some.
DJ Ed Abisada (USA) would take us into the wee hours with House!
Always such a great vibe here although I've heard they're going to soon go Latin on Friday and Saturday nights so we'll see how that goes.
Spotted on the dance floor.
For now, there's always fun to be had, especially later at night. MamaJuana is on West Colonial Drive just east of I-4.
Located on East Colonial Drive, you'll find hidden nightclub Bikkuri Lounge back behind Bikkuri Sushi.
Dan from DJ duo Neptune Project (GB) was in the booth taking everyone on a journey.
Good crowd on hand for this edition of "Lost In Trancelation".
That euphoria you can only get from Trance.
The duo's biggest Trance hit is arguably "Aztec" from back in 2009.
Group pics.
Spotted in the booth: Neptune Project with DJ Suzy Solar (USA).
Next over to Celine.
First up to the rooftop where DJ Sheen Boogie (USA) was also taking everyone on a journey.
It was "impossible to move" packed up here!
House, Electro House, EDM!
He had everyone bouncing!
Including these two!
Love on a rooftop!
OK, 1AM and time to move inside.
For DJ Sage Armstrong (USA).
He's come a long way from his days at a local Domino's Pizza.
Packed to the rafters inside!
Everyone went crazy for current Walker & Royce (USA) hit "Rave Grave". Yes, that Dirtybird sound! Yes, bury me at the club!
Everywhere I went last night, a good time was had by all.

PI Update: New PI T-Shirt Issued

Blog reader Troy alerted me to this new retro Pleasure Island t-shirt now available at the World of Disney. Adorned with the original PI logo featuring the Funmeister himself, the price is $24.99 and appears to only come in the sky blue color.
While looking to see if this could be purchased on-line, I found this website from Teepublic that has a very similar t-shirt in a large variety of colors!
Stock-up on your Pleasure Island regalia!
Thank you, Troy!

DS Update: Portillo's Coming To LBV

We usually limit our Blog posts to things about Pleasure Island, Disney Springs, DJ's & clubs. But this one is just too exciting to hold back. Chicago-based Portillo's is opening a new restaurant in Lake Buena Vista. It's only the 3rd location in Florida and the first in the Orlando area!
While there had been rumors of a Portillo's coming to Disney Springs, it will actually be located at the corner of Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Boulevard.  The latter road is the new overpass above I-4 just to the east of the SR535 exit. (This overpass does not have an interchange with I-4.)

Portillo's is famous for a lot of things including their Chicago-style hot dogs and Chicago-style  Italian Beef sandwiches. Their buildings are typically massive with multiple ordering stations such as shown above at their Chicago Ontario Street location. The LBV location is scheduled to open in late 2020. Mmmmmm!

EDC Orlando Update: 10 Facts

Taking place November 8-9-10, we're just one month away from the 2019 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival - Orlando. Here are some of the things we know about the upcoming event:
1. The event will take place on 3 days/nights instead of just 2 as in all prior years.
2.  There will be 4 main stages instead of just 3 as in prior years.
3. Two stages will be east of the stadium. The past couple years only 1 was over there.
4. The kineticFIELD main stage (pictured above last year) will be east of the stadium this year and will be bigger than ever.
5. The circuitGROUNDS stage moves west of the stadium where kF used to reside.

 6. The neonGARDEN stage will be bigger than ever!

7. The new 4th main stage this year will be called stereoBLOOM. It's a specialty stage with Basscon operating it on Friday, Insomnia Records operating it on Saturday and Dreamstate operating it on Saturday.

 8. The Corona Electric Beach stage is returning as the 5th music location. There's always great music playing on the playa!

 9. The Boombox Art Car stage from the past few years is being replaced by the Wide Awake Art Car stage pictured above at EDC-Chicago. It's the 6th music stage. On Sunday of the event, it will become a Breaks stage featuring DJ's such as Si-Dog (USA), Rob E & Security (USA), Heather Collins (USA), Angela Villin (USA) and so many more we know from the local scene!

10. More than 150,000 are expected and a good time will be had by all.

PI Update: Remembering The Speculation

Following the demolitions of club Motion and Rock'n'Roll Beach Club, this section of Pleasure Island almost looked like a golf course in October, 2012.
At the time we pieced-together the abundant rumors to speculate what was coming to this corner of the Island. A) A new pedestrian walkway would cut through the service/garbage area between Raglan Road and Portofino to keep a natural flow for walking. Prior to that, many people abandoned their transit from Marketplace to the West Side. TRUE
B) A restaurant with a lighthouse. What was built was quite different than the initial design provided to us but it did include a lighthouse. TRUE
 C) An outdoor amphitheater from music and events. TRUE
We did pretty darn well!
