PI Update: Must Still Be PI

We attended last week's ceremony renaming Downtown Disney into Disney Springs but there hasn't been any ceremony yet renaming Pleasure Island.  There are no signs at the entrance bridges either and this sign near the No. 1 Bridge points to Pleasure Island.  So I'm thinking our island must still be Pleasure Island!

So here's our latest Pleasure Island update.  At Adventurers Club, the skeleton of the former comedy club appears to remain untouched.

On the Island's lower level, no apparent work yet to begin the conversion of the building into The Edison Orlando.  Hoopla!

Likewise for the building's upper level which will face out onto West End Plaza.

Across West End Plaza, construction of STK is moving rapidly.  Note both a ground level behind the wall and an upper level.

No announced opening date yet. STK is on an expansion binge with other new locations coming to Miami, Dallas, Denver, Toronto and more!

Interesting view of STK from the back side.  We believe the entrance will be on the front side facing West End Plaza, technically the second level of Pleasure Island in that area.  You can see here that STK has an upper level and perhaps that's where the outdoor cocktail patio will be facing the springs.  And look at that open ground level.  That's the Neverland Tunnels area!

On the east side they have a new covered gazebo where DJ's or bands can perform.

And on the west side of the building this new seating area abuts the hidden Adventurers Club skeleton.  There is a new interior seating area here as well.

You've likely seen plenty of pics from Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar.  Just wanted to show you the sliding hangar doors along the front entrance.

PI Update: Morimoto Street Food

A new sign is up today for Morimoto Street Food, located on the south side of the building near where the Mannequins side garage door used to be.

We only began to see the scope of the Morimoto complex when the restaurant and sushi bar opened. In these Blog exclusive photos, there's this entirely different dining area back here near 8TRAX!

The upstairs dining area has not opened yet either.

And those drapes shading the outdoor area downstairs is an indication of yet something else!

EDC Orlando Update: Single Day Tickets

While set times have yet to be announced, who is playing on each day of Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando has been.  And with that posted, Insomniac has also released single day tickets so it's no longer necessary to purchase 2-day passes if you can't attend both dates!  

Single day General Admission tickets are just $99 + fees for either day.  Two day General Admission tickets are still the best value at $169 + fees.

Friday looks incredible with DJ's Calvin Harris, Eric Prydz, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto among others!  

Saturday is solid too with Audien, Bassnectar, Claude Vonstroke, Dannic, Gorgon City, Seven Lions and Kaskade!

No reason to stay home at these prices!  Order tickets here.

Club Report: House Of Blues SIN Final Night

Seven years ago we did this drill with Pleasure Island; last night we did it again with House of Blues Sunday night Service Industry Night (SIN) at Disney Springs in Lake Buena Vista.

Club opening at 10:30PM with DJ Richie Rich.

And typical of every Sunday here, the break dancers gathered and did their thing.

RR starting the night off with some slower beats and then building up the pace with a mixture of current commercial House and Old Skool.

Richie has been a part of Service Industry Night here for 9 years!

DJ Sandy with DJ Jimmy Joslin. Both were resident DJ's here for many years. Last night Sandy would MC the event while Jimmy would DJ.

Like every Sunday night, dance floor was packed!

Over the years many venues would try to do something on Sunday nights but they would fail because everyone was here!

And he would play a lot of Old Skool hits that defined EDM (or techno, as we used to call it) back in the day!

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!

Which dance club in town is going to step up and grab these DJ's and all these patrons?  There is no ideal solution but Sunday nights are now open!

Shutting this down is sad but in my opinion the Pleasure Island shut-down was a lot more emotional for a lot more people.  SIN has been a lot more young Disney cast member driven and that was a constant revolving cycle of new people in here.
