So here's our latest Pleasure Island update. At Adventurers Club, the skeleton of the former comedy club appears to remain untouched.
On the Island's lower level, no apparent work yet to begin the conversion of the building into The Edison Orlando. Hoopla! |
Likewise for the building's upper level which will face out onto West End Plaza. |
Across West End Plaza, construction of STK is moving rapidly. Note both a ground level behind the wall and an upper level. |
No announced opening date yet. STK is on an expansion binge with other new locations coming to Miami, Dallas, Denver, Toronto and more! |
Side view showing the three levels. This is roughly where Comedy Warehouse used to stand and it too took advantage of its location along the cliff of the Island. |
View from West End Plaza looking down Hill Street towards the Hub with Paradiso 37 on the left. |
On the east side they have a new covered gazebo where DJ's or bands can perform. |
And on the west side of the building this new seating area abuts the hidden Adventurers Club skeleton. There is a new interior seating area here as well. |
You've likely seen plenty of pics from Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar. Just wanted to show you the sliding hangar doors along the front entrance. |
Plus Reggie in dry dock along the side! |

Long live pleasure island!
Nice photos and update. So strange at the lack of progress at AC or the future Edison.
I agree with Jeff - as fast as the tear-down took place at the AC, I'm slightly concerned with the lack of progress since. Maybe Disney wanted to focus purely on getting STK ready immediately and have a very different opening date in mind for the Edison? Or maybe there's an issue with the Tunnels that have to be solved beofe the Edison construction can continue? I seriously hood that's the case and nothing like the project being canned.
$20 says Edison pulled out... the concept as it works in LA, wouldn't fly in Orlando and they were not willing to make the changes Disney wanted...
There's no word out there about The Edison project being cancelled. Keep in mind that Patina Restaurant Group is going to operate the place, using the name and concepts from Los Angeles but otherwise different. Not scheduled to open until mid-2016, there apparently is no hurry to start it either.
Hmm can't help but think that the HoB rape incident may have caused Disney to back away even more from music/DJ's/drink aspect of what the Edison/Tunnels may have been.
Bob, they've clearly backed away from DJ-driven nights but there is no indication that either The Edison or Neverland Tunnels were going to have DJ's. Plus, I'm going to guess neither will have price points attractive to the young CM crowd that used to congregate at HOB.
