Club Report: Latin Quarter

Visit to Latin Quarter located at Universal CityWalk.

The Thursday-Friday-Saturday night resident is DJ Leony (Sirius/XM BPM, RadioDanz.com).

The music at LQ is mostly various Latin formats as expected.  The real fun though hits when he moves into his House/Dance sets and the crowd goes crazy!  Listen here.

Club Report: Vintage Lounge (DJ Baby Anne)

But the star of the night, none other than DJ Baby Anne (USA) taking over shortly after midnight!

DJ Ferry Corsten Coming To A Revolving Dance Floor Near You!

Has it been a year already? Yes it has! The 1-year anniversary of the reopening of club Amphitheatre in Tampa is coming up next month and will feature the #18 DJ in the world and fan favorite, Ferry Corsten (NL). The many Mannequins fans who attended opening night last year will recall the revolving dance floor, advanced light and sound systems, CO2 spraydowns and awesome dance music reminiscent of our favorite club! The Amp has proven itself this year that it is wholly dedicated to EDM. I can already hear 'Fire' and 'Rock Your Body Rock' on the spinning floor! I smell a road trip!

This Weekend In Techno Town

THURSDAY MARCH 8th
In her only Orlando appearance prior to Ultra Music Festival in Miami, DJ Baby Anne will headline this event at Vintage Lounge downtown.  DJ Marc Sparks (Touch Nightclub) opens and closes. Bass and Breaks! Ladies free, guys $5.

FRIDAY MARCH 9th
Newcomer club Bar1 is hosting DMFAO night featuring multiple DJ's including Jennifer Marley (Party95.com, Suite B, LevelZ).  $1 drinks until midnight makes this an attractive option as does guys free until 11:30pm and ladies free until midnight. House and Breaks!

Also Friday night and just a few doors down from Bar1, Senso Supper Club has DJ Oscar G (USA) from Space in Miami and his House/Progressive House show.  $15.

SUNDAY MARCH 11th
And for something completely different, Sunday night is the latest take on Necropolis Night at Independent Bar with DJ Stefan and DJ LD.  The music is a dark mix of Goth, Industrial, Electro, Techno and so on. Wear your favorite color, as long as your favorite color is black.  Free admission; drink specials.

PI Update: Walt's Inspirational Signs

Well somebody thought it was a good idea.  Open Pleasure Island to strollers, eliminate the shows, tear down the stage, stop the fireworks, eliminate the exclusivity, raise the price.

PI Update: Will Hyperion Wharf Replacement Be Announced This Week?

Chatter out there on the internet is indicating that Disney may very well announce information this week about what they're finally going to do with Pleasure Island.  Supposedly there is going to be some kind of announcement prior to Disney's annual meeting which takes place next Tuesday, March 13th.

We're informally calling this Plan C.  Plan A was the initial announcement which stated the comedy and dance clubs were being closed to be replaced with bold and new concepts....which never materialized.  Plan B was the Hyperion Wharf announcement which led to the demolition of Motion, Rock'n'Roll Beach Club and the Number 1 Bridge from Marketplace.  Everything was then put on hold, apparently because folks at the Boardwalk felt the concept was way too close to the Boardwalk's existing theme.

But don't get your hopes up. From what we hear, Plan C is the same as Plan B with the only change being a new theme. The third-party operators will all be the same but instead of a "turn of the century amusement pier" theme, we'll get, for example only, an "old time New Orleans/Mardi Gras" theme instead.  Supposedly the outdoor waterfront amphitheater will still be there along with the interactive pillars. Schussler Creative's Mahogany Bay Classic Old Boats and Great Food Restaurant should be there as well. Hopefully the long-promised announcement will be include more than just the new name and theme.  We'd all like to see what actually makes up bold and new!

Club Report: Independent Bar

No club hopping for me last night; just planted myself "in my spot" at I-Bar and maintained a low profile!

A quick trip to the booth found DJ Dem Rok visiting with DJ Indie John.

Down below the dance floor was jammed to the mix of early to mid-80's New Wave/Old Wave.  Like the 70's Disco tunes heard last weekend at Retro Room, these are songs everyone knows!

Spotted:  DJ Stefan (Independent Bar, 11/12 Lounge).  He and DJ LD will be hosting the next Necropolis Night at I-Bar next Sunday night.

There are always different music formats each night at I-Bar and many of them get jammed.  What's interesting is that the patrons each night are a completely different set of people from other nights. They are intriguing music options that you won't find anywhere else in Orlando with Saturdays bringing out the most diverse of crowds!

Club Report: Atlantic Dance Hall

Having spent so much time at the happiest place on earth this week, it only seemed natural to hang out on-property and check out Disney's only remaining dance club, Atlantic Dance Hall.

Great surprise too finding DJ Willy (8TRAX, PI Live, Rock'n'Roll Beach Club, Celebrate Tonight, Red Coconut Club, The Groove, Pat O'Brien's) at the controls for the evening! Had not seen him since last September at The Groove when he played an incredible mostly-House set.  Alas, this is ADH which means more of a club Motion mix.

Big crowd on hand for the mix of mostly Hip Hop and Top 40/Dance.

Of course just like Motion, lots of line dances like Soulja Boy - 'Crank That'!

Don't forget the Pleasure Island Reunion event here on Saturday, March 24th!  Always a big crowd.

Be forewarned that if you play the Drinking Around The World game at EPCOT, you might end up in a place like Atlantic Dance Hall!

Atlantic Dance Hall is located at Disney's Boardwalk Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. Except for NYE, admission is always free and they're open nightly except Sunday/Monday.

DJ Sak Noel: Loca People

This Electrohouse song was big last summer in European clubs but it's only recently that it's caught-on here in the United States. It made it to number one in the UK, Austria, Belgium and Netherlands and to number four in Germany.  Produced by DJ Sak Noel (E), the video was filmed on Las Ramblas in Barcelona and the Millennium club in Girona and features the vocals of Esthera Sarita (NL) who with her Dutch accent can sing "Vat da fuck" like no one else!

Club Report: Dance The Night Away Party at Magic Kingdom

In honor of Leap Year, the Magic Kingdom was open for 24 hours beginning at 6am yesterday and ending at 6am this morning.  I gave parts of it a try but finally bailed around 5am.  The park was jammed and the most popular rides still had long wait times as late as 3am!  One of the highlights of the overnight hours was the "Dance The Night Away Party" held in front of Cinderella's Castle. And the dance party was led by DJ Hollywood Bob (Motion, PI Live, Celebrate Tonight, Stitch's Club 626 Dance Party) who was putting out the hits and doing a lot of entertaining from 1am to 5:30am!

The music was a mix of Top 40, 70's Disco, 80's Classics and even some early 90's Classic Dance.

Plenty of line dances including the Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Macarena, Cotton Eye Joe, etc.  They all proved quite popular with the huge crowd on hand, many wearing their PJ's!

It was crazy-packed when the music began at 1am and still crazy-packed when I came by at 3am.  It was finally starting to thin-out at 4:30am!

Spotted:  Lou Mongello (WDW Radio), streaming live!

A surprising number of Celebrate Tonight songs got played too and brought back memories of those post-club nights on the Island. Who can forget the 'Hokey Pokey' and 'One Cent, Five Cent, Ten Cent, Dollar' at CT?

Of course this showed once again the huge demand for dance music on Disney property yet the place where dance music had a home sorely lacks it.  Who will be the bold manager that says enough is enough and brings some nightlife back to Pleasure Island?
