PI Update: Remembering The Spotlights

These are the spotlights that were shining into the night sky this past Saturday above the Waterview Stage on Pleasure Island. Does anyone remember the powerful spotlights that used to shine even brighter into the night sky from beside Mannequins? One could always tell where Pleasure Island was located from a dozen miles away. When they took them away around 2007, it kind of foretold the future shutting down of the Island a year later. It was one of several "cuts" such as the nightly New Years Eve axing, closing of RRBC, etc. that showed Disney was no longer investing in the complex. In hindsight, they were signs of bad things to come.

the cuts was to make a REASON to close PI! claiming see noone is coming.

the truth is PI was michael eisner's BABY! he wanted PI the rest of the disney people didnt SO they make these changes to CLOSE PI!

IF they really wanted PI to stay open they could have made it work! you never SAW and ADS fro PI after a certain time! I mean look you see ADS for disney all pover and people KNOW about the place......

say what you want! but PI made money hand over fist back in the day!

Of course they made a lot of money at PI.
There were PI ads in the tourist magazines at least through early 2008. But they let the place get stale too. Yes, it was Eisner's baby.

PI ads till 2008? I think not.

I know somone who said they need to put out ads they said "we dont put out ads for PI!" so unless you can show me these I tend to believe what I over heard.

again THE UPPERS hated PI and let it get run down to SHOW it needed to be closed.

Sorry, I didn't save my old issues of tourist advertising magazines I Love Orlando, SEE Orlando or Enjoy Florida. But many contained the "Carpe' P.M." series of ads.

Vegas TOOK OVER based on nightclubs and DJ's, right around the same time PI was shutting down. 100%, Disney could have capitalized on the EDM trend, brought it named DJ acts and promoted the hell out of it.

I agree. Disney really missed out on the popularity of DJ's and the electronic music trend. Cost them a ton of missed revenue.
