PI Update: House Of Mouse EXPO & Pleasure Island Rewind Are Two Separetly Ticketed Events!

We've previously spoken about the upcoming House of Mouse Expo taking place the final weekend of November.

But we need to emphasize that the Pleasure Island Rewind event, taking place on the Saturday night of the Expo, is a separately ticketed event. Admission to the Expo does not include admission to the Pleasure Island Rewind. You must have a separate ticket if you want to attend the Rewind. Sources tell Save Pleasure Island Blog that the Rewind will include an Adventurers Club skit and a Comedy Warehouse skit, both featuring original cast members from PI. Tickets here.

Pleasure Island Rewind Update

We've previously mentioned the House of Mouse Expo taking place Thanksgiving weekend. On the Saturday night of that event, a separately ticketed Pleasure Island Rewind event will be taking place ft. DJ Elliot (USA). Tickets are now on sale for the PI Rewind and they're a pricey $85 + tax. But that does include a number of snacks, ice tea, and dessert stations. Most importantly, it includes 4.5 hours of entertainment from 7PM to 11:30PM including music from each of the clubs. Sources tell Save Pleasure Island Blog that the event will include an Adventurers Club skit ft. original cast plus a Comedy Warehouse skit ft. original cast! So we don't doubt this will sell-out! Pleasure Island Rewind This Saturday Night

The House of Mouse Expo is taking place this weekend at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South hotel in Kissimmee. But the highlight to us will be the Pleasure Island Rewind event taking place Saturday night from 7:00PM to 11:30PM ft. DJ Elliot (USA). It will include segments of music from each Pleasure Island club and it's our understanding that there will be live Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse skits performed by original castmembers! Pleasure Island Rewind

Pleasure Island Rewind took place last night at Disney's Contemporary Resort and it was a great way to remember the many clubs that made up our beloved PI.

DJ Elliot was on the boards playing hits from many of the dance clubs beginning the night with Rock'n'Roll Beach Club, Neon Armadillo and 8TRAX!

The Mannequins portion included part of the Light Show and part of the Phantom!

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!

The Colonel from Adventurers Club then paid us a visit via satellite!

And the Adventurers Club cast was reunited for the first time in years!

Everyone was shocked when they made an announcement: The Adventurers Club was reopening!  Unfortunately, after a long pause, it was announced that the reopening was only for the next 20 minutes!

Since everyone's club membership had expired after 6 years, there was a new member induction ceremony along with traditional AC songs!

Then it was time for a improv show from the Comedy Warehouse crew!

With Carol Stine on the keyboards just like old times!

Along with many of the original CW crew!  They will reprise their roles again over the Christmas to New Years holidays with numerous daily shows at Disney Hollywood Studios.

And then it was onto the West End Stage for our New Years Eve countdown to midnight followed by confetti explosions!

Great musical memories last night of our nights on the Island.

As Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney is converted to The Landing at Disney Springs, we continue to watch for what kind of adult nightlife will be offered there.

As part of the Destination D event, some old ride displays were offered such as Starjets!

And we'll never forget Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!

A good time was had by all!

PI Update: Remembering Our PI Past

 We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Blog reader Troy was recently running along Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon when he stumbled upon this AC group at one of the character stops along the course!  When Troy expressed his expected surprise at seeing them, one said,
"Where have you been? We've been out here waiting for almost 10 years!"

During the early years after Pleasure Island's closure, mentioning anything PI was pretty much not allowed at Disney. As years dragged-on and the lack of anything happening on the Island became literally embarrassing, there was even that late summer 2011 putsch where nearly all remaining club signs and colors were removed. But in more recent years Disney has finally embraced its Pleasure Island past and we've seen Comedy Warehouse and Adventurers Club shows at various times across property. In 2014 there was even that Pleasure Island Rewind where the former clubs were actually celebrated! As we move toward the 10th anniversary of Pleasure Island closing, it would not surprise me to see many more offerings.

PI Update: Another Pleasure Island Rewind!

The Saturday and Sunday following Thanksgiving this year will be home to the House of Mouse Expo taking place at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South. And we noticed something curious on the event page. Although the current link provides no information, the link is titled "Pleasure Island Rewind". So this is an event you might want to attend! The last time an expo had a PI Rewind, it was back in 2014 at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Prior event link here. PI Update: That Pleasure Island Rewind

Back on June 28th the Blog told about the House of Mouse Expo coming to town this November and we pointed out the link to a Pleasure Island Rewind party. That link at the time went nowhere but piqued our interest and now that link has been updated!  LINK  Separately ticketed from the House of Mouse Expo event itself, we're told that they're bringing the clubs back to life that night ft. DJ Elliot (USA). Tickets are not yet available but will be soon and we'll update you because they will sell out!

Breaking News: PI Rewind Will Have Live AC & CW Skits

 

As we've publicized, the House of Mouse Expo taking place on November 27-28 will include a Pleasure Island Rewind event which will be separately ticketed. Sources tell Save Pleasure Island Blog that along with a music segment from each of PI's former clubs, there will be a live Adventurers Club skit and a live Comedy Warehouse skit. Both will feature original cast members!

PI Update: Adventurers Club Memories

The truth is that I was not a big Adventurers Club fan back when Pleasure Island clubs operated.  I can only recall going in there twice during all my years at PI.  I enjoyed the wacky fun but in the back of my mind I feared I was missing out on even greater fun over at Mannequins!

But as much as PI fans bemoaned the loss of Mannequins, 8TRAX & Motion, there was no one more vocal than Adventurers Club fans!

Since then I've learned what a following this place had.....and has!

The front yard was full of artifacts collected by the club from their adventuring.

Even after the club closed, most of these items remained outside for years.

There was no place like it!

On the one year anniversary of the closure, there was a special show put on in the club for AC fans.  It was one of the last events ever in this building.

Since then, the AC cast has returned for several special engagements such as the Pleasure Island Rewind in November, 2014 (link) and the show above this past New Years Eve.  Enjoy!  Special thanks to Blog reader Shawn Tucker for the hook-up!

Breaking News: MDP, AC, CW & 8TRAX To Be Recreated For 1 Night For D23

D23's "Attraction Rewind" is coming to Walt Disney World on November 22-23 and it will include a newly announced "Pleasure Island Rewind" featuring areas dedicated to Mannequins, Adventurers Club, Comedy Warehouse and 8TRAX.  Details are in the article posted on the Inside The Magic website located here.  Have no idea yet what this will entail. DS Update: House Of Mouse Expo Is Back!

The 4th edition of the House of Mouse Expo is returning this year and the announced dates are Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2. And it will be taking place at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista, a short walk from Disney Springs. The first edition had a Pleasure Island Rewind too! More information to follow and we'll keep you updated.

Club Reports: Independent Bar, Vanity Nightclub, Sandwich Bar

A great winter evening in the low 70's and I started off at personal favorite Independent Bar!

DJ Indie John in the booth playing the Saturday night format of early to mid 80's New Wave!

Good crowd on hand kept the dance floor moderately full.

John says the New Years Eve format will be about 50% Wednesday night Mac & Cheese and 50% Friday (Indie) & Saturday (New Wave)!

I-Bar is consistently a fun place to hang out!

Next stop Vanity Nightclub, part of the V-Group of clubs that includes Vixen, Vintage & Vyce.

Just back from a 3 week gig in Shanghai, China, DJ Freefall (USA)!
