Club Report: Remembering Frosty's Christmastime Lounge

Frosty's Christmastime Lounge was a year-round, heavily-themed bar located on Central Blvd just east of Court Street. As Christmas arrives this year, we want to remember this special place.

Frosty's had a countdown clock ticking off how much time remained until the next Christmas!

When you stepped inside, there were literally Christmas decorations everywhere!

 

Santa was always there to hear your wishes.

There were numerous specialty cocktails. My favorite was the Coconut Snowball.

Happy elves assured that a good time was had by all.

DTD Update: Remembering the Princess Diana Museum

With Pleasure Island clubs shuttered at the end of September, 2008, the last thing Downtown Disney needed was more vacant space.  But that's exactly what happened with the announcement in March, 2009 that Virgin Megastore was closing two months later!  This created another large gap of real estate that could potentially prove difficult to fill.

But fill it they did.  In what the Blog felt at the time was a desperate move to eliminate the gap, the Princess Diana Museum temporarily moved in. There was an admission charge and it featured many of her gowns. We don't recall if it did very well financially.

Admission was amazingly cheap by our standards now. It would later be replaced by Ridemakerz, a toy store of sorts and then permanently by the Splitsville bowling alley complex.

DS Update: Chicken Guy Expands

The Chicken Guy in Disney Springs West Side is expanding. It had a very small footprint to begin with so any expansion is welcome. There was a lot of outdoor seating which is great at this time of the year but not so great in the summer. The food, mostly chicken fingers, is decent enough and there are a lot of sauce choices. They're also at the cheaper end of dining choices in Disney Springs which can't hurt.

DS Update: Ridemakerz Lives

During our recent visit to the Florida Mall we were reminded that Ridemakerz is still around.

You'll recall that after the PI clubs closed in September, 2008, Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney West Side followed suit in May, 2009. Thus, there were two huge gaps of "nothing" for pedestrians. The Virgin space was temporarily occupied by the short-lived Princess Diana Museum and then in 2010 by Ridemakerz.

CW Update: Holiday Hours at RCC

'Tis the season. Red Coconut Club at Universal CityWalk has been renamed Green and Red Coconut Club for the holidays. This has been a tradition the last few years. Hours vary. Admission is free and parking is free beginning at 6PM.

Trip Report: Progresso, Merida & Cozumel, Mexico

When you're in Mexico you will find Farmacias all over the place. You can find medicine that would require a prescription in the United States but you don't need one in Mexico. Shop and compare because prices vary greatly and in general, the farther you are away from the cruise terminal, the cheaper they become.

Radio Shack is still alive in Mexico!

In the eastern United States we have Hardee's and in the western United States you'll find sister company Carl's Jr. Throughout Mexico, you'll find the latter.

Upon arrival on Margaritaville at Sea Islander this morning at Port Tampa Bay, Carnival Legend was docked behind us. The two ships are identical except for the venue names used on board. They are both Spirit-class ships!
