Downtown Update: What's New?

Jumping around downtown to show you what's new and what's coming.  Embassy Irish Bar has opened at the southwest corner of Orange Avenue and Central Blvd in a space formerly occupied by Banco Popular. Music was playing but I didn't see any DJ. Because we need another Irish bar.
At the same intersection but on the southeast corner, no signs yet to indicate that a Taco Bell Cantina is coming to where club 1 South used to operate. It's a Taco Bell but with beer and wine. There's no shortage of taco places downtown either so the competition will be stiff.
By now you're familiar with Frosty's Christmastime Lounge where Christmas is celebrated every night year-round. Well this space at 39 W. Pine Street will soon be home to Cocktails & Screams where Halloween will be celebrated year-round! The location has been home to a dozen or more venues over the years but this one sounds like it might have more staying power!
The sign outside McQueens Social Lounge still reports a Spring 2019 opening but we're told they're supposedly opening this week. Another second floor venue, this one located above Bullitt Bar on East Pine Street, it supposedly will be a House music club. Now that's good news!

Lastly, a Pokémon-themed popup bar is coming to Orlando in October but it will exist for only two days (October 26-27). There will be DJ's playing and admission will include a burger and drink. The location remains a secret. Stay tuned to the Blog for details.

This Weekend In Techno Town

WEDNESDAY JUL 24
This one is tonight, folks! DJ Technasia (HK/NL) is back and it should draw a big crowd at Celine, even on a Wednesday! House / Tech House.

FRIDAY JUL 26
It's been a long time since we've had an edition of HouseFlyz! The series returns Friday night at Iron Cow with resident DJ's Seth Vogt (USA) and Knightlife (USA) and headlined by DJ Noel Sanger (USA).  House.
FRIDAY JUL 26
First time that I can recall DJ David Penn (E) playing Orlando, this one also at Celine.  House.
FRIDAY JUL 26
Bringing his own flavor of blended House music to town, DJ Oscar P (USA) headlines this event at Vinyl Rum & Tapas Lounge.  House.
SATURDAY JUL 27
DJ Rich D (USA) had an epiphany during Miami Music Week and that was that the same people keep going to Breaks events but the House movement keeps growing! So he's got the Breaks gang together this Saturday night at Bikkuri Lounge but it won't be Breaks! Line-up is posted and it includes DJ Dose (USA).  House.
SATURDAY JUL 27
I don't recall this guy playing Orlando previously either but he'll be on the patio at Elixir cranking out the music. He's DJ Blackchild ITA (I).  Tech House.
SUNDAY JUL 28
Rounding out the final weekend of July is the Iberian veteran DJ Dennis Cruz (E) at Elixir Bar.  Tech House / House.

Club Reports: Return To EPCOT

Back out at EPCOT for the first time this year since New Years Eve. First stop the Fountain Stage. WTF! No stage, no DJ Charles Miles (USA)!

Next stop EPCOT: China. WTF! No stage, no DJ Dominick Morrison (USA)!

Final stop EPCOT: Italy. WTF! The stage was partly here, just no DJ Mark Sanchez (USA). Guess the DJ's are only playing on New Years Eve. Guess I'll come back then.

Club Reports: 80's Everywhere!

There are regular pub crawls in downtown Orlando, each with a different theme. Last night's theme was the 80's and we joined the crawl at their second stop, The Beacham.
The front entrance was a sea of color as patrons streamed in!
The music was 80's, of course, led by DJ Parry (USA).
And OMG, this is what it looked like!
Packed to the rafters!
And singing along to the lyrics!
Of course we know DJ Parry mainly from The Patio where he packs that venue every weekend night.
Absolutely amazing!
Parry says that no one is making any new 80's songs anymore.
For big shows like this, there's always a young understudy who waits in the wings in the event the main DJ falls ill. We spotted DJ Cliff T (USA) back stage waiting, just in case.
We also spotted Saturday night Beacham resident DJ D-Strong (USA) who would take over after the Pub Crawl departed the premises.
Some views from down on the floor!

Lots of 80's neon, of course!
It was absolutely crazy down there!
The music was not only 80's Pop classics but also 80's hairband Rock classics.
Soon it was time for the 1000+ revelers to head on to the next bar on the list and here's a few pics of everyone exiting The Beacham.

You can never go wrong with the 80's!
But wait, there's more! Next over to The Abbey where they were having an Old School Party!
DJ Pointblanc (USA) was on the decks when I arrived around 11PM.
Compared to where I had just been, the dance floor was spartan.
While the floor was empty in front.....
It was because the crowd was all congregating by the bar at the rear! Come on down, people!
DJ Lyvwyr (USA) would take over next.
Playing 80's and sometimes drifting into the 90's!
Dance floor traffic would slowly build.
We know Lyvwyr from Don Jefe's Tequila Parlour on Church Street as well as from Paradiso 37 on Pleasure Island.
DJ Ray Love (USA) taking control at midnight and continuing the theme of the night. You can never go wrong with the 80's!
Two 80's nights down, one to go. Of course, Saturday night at Independent Bar!
With DJ KC Cuts (USA) in the perch!
Crowded in here too!
No matter the age group, everyone knows the words to 80s songs!
Spotted along the walkway: Scott, Christa & Mike
Spotted on the dance floor: Doc John
Spotted on the dance platform: Yul and Melissa
You can never go wrong with the 80's!
Everywhere I went last night, a good time was had by all.
