PI Update: Around The Boathouse

Save Pleasure Island Blog posted exclusive pictures of the inside of The Boathouse two weeks ago during their soft opening for invited guests....prior to any other news organization getting inside.
So we were pleased to return and mill about the place for awhile now that it's open to the public.
One of several boats or boat sections that make up the dining room.
Light musical entertainment taking place on a beautiful afternoon.
Lots of excitement about today's opening of Dockside Margaritas but another venue to enjoy a few cold ones is the similarly named Dockside Bar at The Boathouse.
A number of people have already discovered it!
Some of the older pleasure craft docked at the marina.
Of course much of the buzz about this place are the Amphicar rides that will soon be offered.
Rides will last 20-minutes and will cost $125 for up to 3 passengers and a skipper.  I was told that sales tax is extra and there is a AP discount.
I think this will be a real winner!
Tickets will be sold in the Ship's Store.
As is lots of other Boathouse logo merchandise! Come check it out!

DJ Pete Tong Coming To Orlando

One of the most famous DJ's in House music history, Pete Tong (GB), comes to Orlando for the first time in a decade when he performs for the first anniversary party of Deep Therapy night at Tier Nightclub on Thursday, June 4th. Earlybird tickets are $20 here. Long famous as an announcer on BBC1 in the UK for his "Essential Selection" program, "It's All Gone Pete Tong" is the name of his radio show on iHeartRadio in the United States. This will be a sell out!

DTD Update: Pedestrian Overpasses

One of the great added-value additions coming to the conversion of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs is the addition of two pedestrian overpasses at the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Hotel Plaza Blvd.  This is the pillar complex under construction to the north of the intersection that will funnel pedestrians directly into Marketplace.
The is the pillar complex at the northeast corner of the intersection and will connect to both the section in the first photo above as well as the pillar complex across Hotel Plaza Blvd near the Hilton Lake Buena Vista in the photo below.
Pillar complex in the southeast corner of the intersection. Pedestrians coming from that side of HPB such as from the Hilton or Holiday Inn would cross here and then continue across the other overpass directly into the Marketplace.

Club Reports: Pleasure Island

Return with us one last time.....to beautiful Pleasure Island!  Let's check out the clubs and see what they once were, and what they are now!
Mannequins Dance Palace was the flagship club that defined Pleasure Island. It's large revolving dance floor and sound and lighting effects far ahead of its time defined PI as a must see destination when visiting Walt Disney World!
The scaffolding has been removed and soon will display the new sign of Morimoto Asia, a large pan-Asian restaurant.
Butted glass facing south be part of a window front dining area inside.
BET Soundstage was the home of Hip Hop, Soul and R&B. The place would stay packed through much of its life although the crowds shifted to Motion in later years since Top 40 included so much Hip Hop during the mid-to-late 90's.
Soundstage Club has remained mostly idle since being shuttered in 2008.
Though a now-open door indicates that renovations may finally begin. At one time we thought this would be home to The Edison Orlando but now we're not really sure.
The Adventurers Club was home to zany live comedy unlike any other.  The roar of fan disapproval regarding its closure resonates to this day.
Gutted of its artifacts, the venue remains untouched to our knowledge and at one time Disney Springs postings described it as becoming a train-themed cafeteria.
While the stairs lead one down to an underground area called The Tunnels.
Live bands had their Island home at Rock'n'Roll Beach Club.
It was razed and is being replaced with The Hanger.
Described so far as a bar with light food options, we think Disney has some surprises in store for us here that have yet to be revealed!  The outdoor music amphitheater also occupies some of the space of the former RRBC.
Dance club Motion occupied the far northeast corner of the Island and was a Top 40 club. Always fun coming over at midnight to see DJ Talie lead an absolutely packed dance floor to the "Cupid Shuffle" and "Cha Cha Slide"!
It's been replaced with The Boathouse restaurant and bar complex. As much as I miss Motion, I think TBH is a win for Disney Springs.
8TRAX was a 70's Disco club and in later years, 70's & 80's. Always crowded with all ages because they played music that everyone knew the words to.
8TRAX still stands as you can see in the middle.
Apparently it will be the entry building into the adjoining Morimoto Asia restaurant next door and likely given the space, a restaurant of its own.
The last club was Comedy Warehouse. It was built on both levels of the Island with the entry up here at West End Plaza, tiered seating levels leading all the way down to the stage at the Island's lower level.
It's former location has yet to be built upon but we believe this is where STK steakhouse and ultralounge is going. And that completes our roundup of the clubs of Pleasure Island.

Club Reports: Atlantic Dance Hall, Suite B Lounge

Beginning my Saturday night with a well-overdue visit to Atlantic Dance Hall at Walt Disney World.  The $5 cover charge has been eliminated.
DJ Angel Lugo was in the booth playing the typical ADH mix of Top 40 hits old and new and Line Dances.
You never know what you're going to get here but there was actually a crowd on the spacious dance floor!
And the "Cha Cha Slide" really brought everyone on down!
"How low can you go?"
Spotted: Pleasure Islanders!
Spotted: Genuine Mouseketeers. Supercute! I think ADH is the only dance club in the world where you can wear Mouse ears and no one gives you a second glance!
Spotted: Fine looking troupe of Tampa girls!
"Wobble baby Wobble!"
The rumors are apparently true and cast members have seen the presentation. In a few weeks the club's Thursday night format is switching to Pleasure Island! There will be an hour of Rock'n'Roll Beach Club, an hour of 8TRAX, an hour of Motion and ending the night with two hours of Mannequins! The logos will be back, special effects are coming! Wow! We'll keep you updated.
Fun night at ADH which is located at Disney's Boardwalk Resort.
Moving next from the purity of Disney World to the grittiness of downtown Orlando to attend BreaksYo! at Suite B Lounge.
Arrived to find Miami's DJ Bebe in the booth pumping out Breakbeats!
Big crowd in the small club!
Dance floor stayed jammed all night!
Always a lot of familiar faces in here from the local Breaks scene!
Spotted: DJ Supagroover who had played earlier.
Last saw this guy on the dance floor at Mekka in Miami here!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Like I said!
It's not a party without the Mazors!
Getting up!
And getting down!
A good time was had by all!
