DTD Update: Margarita Bar

The renovations of the east bay area of Village Lake included the demolition of Cap'n Jack's Restaurant along with the popular waterfront Cap'n Jack's Margarita Bar.  But a brand new Margarita Bar is on the way!
Just a couple weeks ago the footprint of the new bar was in place just to the east of the Waterside Stage and Marketplace Snacks.
And then overnight this prefabricated replacement building was "dropped" into place!
It won't be long until the margaritas are flowing again!  It won't be long until guitarists such as Eric Lindsey, John Harman, Pat Frost, Sunny Jim and Mitch Corbin are strumming again!

DTD Update: Orange Garage Update

Decided to park in the new Orange Garage (West Garage) during my visit to Downtown Disney a few days ago.  The parking lot sensors are operational and as you drive in you can see how many spaces are available on each floor.  There are no sensors on the ground floor at this time so incoming traffic backs up as drivers proceed down the main interior entryway and have to look to see if they spot an empty.  Entering is a slow-going affair and all the Reedy Creek parking lot employees can do is wave their wands to try to keep people moving.  The top deck remains closed.
The red and green lights above each space did not appear to be working during my visit but they were correctly sensing.  My row showed 2 spaces open and I could not see them from the main aisle. But sure enough, there were 2 open spaces down that row!
The entry portal to Downtown Disney West Side near Planet Hollywood is nearing completion.
Once open, guests will be directed within the garage to the 2nd floor of the garage via elevators or escalators.  From there they can then reach the ground floor via the portal after crossing over the service road that runs between the garage and DTD itself.
Entering Downtown Disney from westbound I-4 will be accomplished via a new exit ramp that will lead drivers over Buena Vista Drive and directly into the Orange Garage.  That overpass is under construction as shown here.  Come on out and see it all for yourself!

PI Update: Mannequins Disappearing Act

Hanging on by just a thin wire, Pleasure Island lives!
Posted concept art of what Mannequins is going to look like when they're done.
What the front elevation looks like today.
And the south-facing side.  Notice that the exterior management staircase at the rear has now been removed.  You can also see 8TRAX in this shot.
Lots of memories going up and down these stairs here!
Notice that the ground floor bathrooms that used to occupy that corner have been razed.
Peeking inside, looking at approximately where the elevator once stood.  No more.
And the northeast corner is its own room now.  Come on out and see it all for yourself!

PI Update: Transition To Mall

Drive on over to beautiful Pleasure Island to check out the latest shops to open as PI is transitioned from a club district to a shopping district.
The Sanuk flip-flop store has opened directly in front of what was 8TRAX.
And the Havaianas flip-flop store opened a few minutes after this picture was snapped!
The overhead sign had not arrived yet but the name is printed on the windows.
Sound Lion opened this past week in a spot where the Apricot Lane store used to stand.

On the corner at the Hub where PI Live Bar once stood, Erwin Pearl Jewelry is slated to occupy this deep retail spot.
Across from Havaianas is Bakery Valentine aka Babycakes.  They are opening this Sunday afternoon and will feature gluten-free baked goods.
These shops join the already open Chapel Hats, Apex by Sunglass Hut and Art of Shaving.  Shoppers are excited.

Cruise Director Sal (MEX) leading the "Cupid Shuffle"!
Large crowd on hand at the ship's pool deck!
Of course you gotta have "The Wobble"!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
The music was a mix of Line Dances, Top 40, Classic Hip Hop and even some EDM!
The ship's "Angel Dancers" keeping the crowd in some semblance of order!
Turn Down For What?
The event began at 10:30pm and was still going pretty strong around midnight!
A good time was had by all!
An added-value feature on NCL: no matter how many drinks you've consumed, just follow the little fish back to your cabin!

Club Report: Dazzles (Norwegian Sky)

Another weekend, another cruise.  Sailing from Miami this time on Norwegian Sky to Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.  The ship is pictured here earlier today in Nassau between Disney Dream and Carnival Ecstasy.
The main dance club on the ship is Dazzles.
Last night's Welcome Party featured the live band VIP.
The ship seems about half-empty to the 2,000 capacity so there wasn't much of a crowd in the club.
The music played was a mix of older Top 40 hits & Latin.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T from the lead singer!
A good time was hind of had by all.  NCL's famous "White Hot Party" is tonight so will finally get to check out the DJ!
