Club Reports: Vixen Bar, Suite B Lounge, Independent Bar

After attending a party at a neighbor's house, there was no time for experiments. It was on to the tried and true clubs including Vixen Bar downtown!
DJ Seth Vogt spinning a really great set of House/Dance!
Spotted: Orlando socialite CJ with friend!  Haven't run into her since Electric Sun in JAX!
Vixen was pretty crowded during my visit!
Moving over to Suite B Lounge where there's never a shortage of EDM!
DJ's Jade, Security and Rob-E!  Old School vs Nu-Skool!
Pretty good-sized crowd in attendance here too!
Lots of people on the dance floor!
Spotted: Orlando socialite CJ with friends here too!

Spotted: DJ Scarlett (far right) with friends.  She had played an Old School set earlier in the evening which I unfortunately missed.
And of course a Saturday night visit to Independent Bar is a requirement if I'm downtown!
Not positive but I think that's Orlando socialite CJ in the I-Bar booth with Lighting Tech Ernie and DJ Indie John!
Dance floor was pretty jammed!
11/12 Lounge patrons!
And I'm relatively sure.....a good time was being had by all!

Flamingo Crossings Update

The only thing at Walt Disney World that is deader than Pleasure Island after 10pm is Disney's Flamingo Crossings development.  It's located a few miles west of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort on Western Way and just past that road's junction with the TOLL 429 expressway.
Designed to house moderate-priced hotels, restaurants and shops (all operated by third-parties), the place remains completely void of any activity!  You'll recall back in January the Blog reported that they had finally signed their very first tenant: Walgreen's. But here we are nine months later and there has been no groundbreaking!
To the south, Flamingo Crossings Blvd becomes Hartzog Road and there are non-Disney landlords this way.  But no takers so far here either.
Interestingly, as you enter the Flamingo Crossings development area there is a sign that says you are entering (or more precisely, re-entering) the RCID.  So perhaps fire and emergency services in Flamingo Crossings must be provided by the Reedy Creek Improvement District.  Which might give some credence to the rumor that RCID wants to build a new fire station somewhere out on Western Way. Even though there is nothing currently there.

DJ Rascal Coming To Orlando

Every once in awhile The Groove will pull out a surprise and actually bring in out-of-town "name" EDM DJ's. We'll they're doing it again on Saturday, November 3rd with Miami DJ Rascal (SET, Cameo). Should be a night of House and Top 40/Dance with just the standard $7 cover charge!  The Groove is located at CityWalk in the Universal Orlando Resort.  Parking is free after 6pm for Florida residents and after 10pm for everyone else.

Club Reports: Pine Street Party, Vixen, Vintage

A celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Pine Street was blocked off last night to allow for a street party.
During my visit this guy was yelling about something I didn't quite get while a good-sized crowd looked on.
Then these two girls each poured a can of paint onto his long hair.
And then he went on to talk about how this is considered art.  OK, movin-on!
Oh, they did have a DJ spinning EDM so that part was good!
Over to Vixen Bar to check out their new color-changing sign.  Very nice.
Resident DJ Jimmy Joslin spinning Top 40/Dance/EDM.  Would be nice to see him playing at Electric Daisy Carnival next month!
The place was pretty full and there were some couples on the dance floor.
Moving next door to Vintage Lounge for their Bang! Thursdays.
DJ Shock playing EDM as well to kick-off the night.
Really good crowd in the house!
Lots of people on the dance floor.

But the reason for the season, DJ Baby Anne taking control at midnight!
The music was a mix of Breakbeats, House and some classic Old School from back in the day.
Baby Anne will be overseeing the revolving dance floor at Amphitheatre on Saturday, November 3rd and bouncing with the waves at Club V on Victory Casino Cruises on Saturday, November 17th.
Would love to see her on the Phase 2 DJ list for EDC as well!

Spotted: I-Bar gurl posing with Baby Anne!
And on this Thursday night, a good time was had by all!

Remembering Studio 54

One year ago tonight had to be my greatest club night ever!  Sirius/XM Satellite Radio had started a new music channel called Studio 54 Radio featuring music and DJ's from the original club Studio 54 in New York City.  Sparing no expense, Sirius/XM went to the original club location, renovated it and reopened Studio 54 again......for one night only!  And because of the Save Pleasure Island Blog, I was an invited guest and received the coveted wristbands shown above!
Having been too young to go to the original legendary club, this was like a dream come true!
I remained on the packed dance floor nearly the entire night, except for trips to the free open bar!  The music was 70-80's Disco from that era spun by original Studio 54 DJ Nicky Siano. (Other than the surprise one hour Dance set from Avicii!)
They even recreated the clubs original icon, the cocaine-snorting crescent moon.  To hell with political correctness!
And without a doubt, a good time was had by all!  Especially me!

PI Update: Hot Day On The Island

There it is, the place worth saving: beautiful Pleasure Island!
You wouldn't know that it's Fall though; temps in the upper 80's!
Come enjoy the palm trees!
Broad sandy beaches!
Pulsating nightlife!
Watersports!
Dining with dinosaurs!
Balloon rides!
New picnic tables surround the Lily Pad. I suppose you can go over to McDonald's Pollo Campero and then bring the food over here!  Pleasure Island keeps getting better!
