DS Update: Dancing Under The Stars

It's not dancing "with the stars", it's dancing "under the stars". We're not sure what it is but it's taking place nightly at the Orange Node Stage near the main entry/exit of the Orange Garage. Through October 2nd.

 

DS Update: Searching For That Hidden Mickey

Back during 2014 when construction was in full blast mode converting Downtown Disney into Disney Springs, we noticed this peculiar design being built in Food Truck Park (now called Exposition Park) on the West Side. From Save Pleasure Island's exclusive SkyCam, we could see they built a Hidden Mickey.

As the project was reaching completion and trees and shrubs were being installed, it already became difficult to ascertain that there was a Hidden Mickey there. And that was then. We wondered what it looked like today.

And that it what it looks like today! The trees are much larger, the bushes are much larger. But it's still there if you know what to look for. You can't see it on Google satellite-view due to shadows and that section of highliner trestle so the only way to see it for yourself is via the Aerophile balloon ride.

DS Update: Gone Are The Crossroads

In case you haven't been by the intersection of Hotel Plaza Blvd and SR 535 lately, this is the view of the intersection now looking generally eastbound. What's missing is the former Crossroads Shopping Center including all the outparcels. The State of Florida acquired the land several years ago and now all the buildings have been demolished. No more Gooding's supermarket, no more McDonald's, no more Pizzaria Uno, etc.

The ramps connecting Interstate 4 and SR 535 and Hotel Plaza Blvd will all be rebuilt to improve the traffic flow at this extremely busy intersection. To accomplish that, everything there had to go!

DS Update: Delayed Sign Removal At Chicken Guy

The Planet Hollywood Observatory logo store used to be located in this spot adjacent to it but relocated to inside the building so that Chicken Guy could expand its inside seating area. It seemed like it took forever but Chicken Guy did finally move in.....but the PH logo store sign is still up there. Given how long it took to remove Pleasure Island club signs, I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise.

 

Concert Report: Club 600 North Reunion (Daytona Beach)

This is the Art Deco gem Streamline Hotel along SR A1A in Daytona Beach. And up on that rooftop last night was a celebration of Daytona's greatest club ever, Club 600 North formerly located in the Howard Johnson's Plaza Hotel. Back in the day the music was Breaks and that's what we heard last night. The pictures are on sister-Blog Orlando Entertainment News here.

DS Update: Where Can I Get Shoes?

With the recent closing of the Ugg store and the Melissa store, is it still possible to purchase shoes during your Disney Springs visit? Yes, Sanuk us still here featuring European-styled flip-flops.

Havaianas still has a Brazilian-styled flip-flop store.

Fit2Run has the whole fleet of athletic shoes including the current high trending Hoka brand. The Disney Springs Guidemap also lists Johnston & Murphy and Sperry as shoe stores and many of the women's clothing shops in Disney Springs Town Center sell shoes too. So the answer is yes.

DS Update: Other Changes

Back in the Exchange Building where Lululemon is moving to (as we reported yesterday), we see that Everything But Water has vacated their spot. No indication of what is going in to replace it.

Of course Sosa Family Cigars is now long-gone now and will be replaced by Bowes Signature Candles. This spot is between the Pelé Soccer Store and Salt & Straw Ice Cream.

 

Rustic Cuff was one of the names that occupied the Erwin Pearl Jewelry spot on Pleasure Island when EPJ vacated. They had relocated to this "no foot traffic" walkway near D-Luxe Burger but are no longer here. Their website indicates they are now in one of those small kiosk buildings in Riverboat Square. While it's a tiny spot, there is tons of pedestrians passing by!

Also on that same "no foot traffic" walkway, Melissa Shoes (later Melissa Clube) is gone. They did not relocate; they're simply gone. So as you can see, lots of changes happening at the Springs!

DS Update: Luluemon To Relocate

This is the current Luluemon location in Disney Springs Town Center. It's located in the spot where Michael Jordon's son Marcus Jordan previously operated a sneaker store called Trophy Room. But it looks like they're relocating.

They're moving to this spot that actually has two entrances in what was formerly home to the Uggs store that closed earlier this year. This is the outdoor entrance in the Town Center section of Disney Springs while the second entrance is adjacent to it but inside the indoor Exchange Building to the left. More changes too in Disney Springs which we'll report on this week here on SPI.
