CW Update: Red Coconut Becomes Dead Coconut

The Red Coconut Club in Universal CityWalk has reopened at the Revenge of the Dead Coconut Club.

The theming featuring many Universal-owned characters is pretty amazing!

DS Update: Spain VS Japan

Two of the largest and most popular fashion retailers in Disney Springs are the topic of our discussion today. Both are located in Disney Springs Town Center. The first one is Zara. It is the leading brand of Spain-based Inditex Group. Their other brands such as Bershka, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius have different price points than Zara but do not operate in the Untied States or Canada. They originally had a store at the Mall at Millenia when that mall first opened but currently their stores are here in Disney Springs and at Florida Mall. As you can see, it has two floors of merchandise.

Japan-based Uniqlo is another fast-fashion retailer that opened when Disney Springs first opened. It's a great place to find Disney tee-shirts without the Disney prices. This location was their first one in Florida but there are more now including one at Florida Mall. As you can see, it also has two floors of merchandise.

DS Update: Summer House Progress

Progress continues on the construction of new restaurant Summer House in Disney Springs West Side. The sign still says a "Opening 2023" so since we're now in September, that gives them 4 months to arrive on time. We think it's possible but Disney's reputation for projects delivered on time is not that good.

 

Concert Report: Labor Day Bash (House Of Blues)

Even years after Pleasure Island closed, House of Blues in Downtown Disney had packed Service Industry Nights until Disney forced them to stop them. Last night SIN was reprised ft. some of their resident DJ's including Jimmy Joslin (USA), DJ Sandy (USA) and Magic Mike (USA) pictured above. PI Update: Great Sign Darkness

Ten years ago this month construction on the Island was going full board. Meanwhile, out on Buena Vista Drive, Pleasure Island's "Great Sign" was still standing there but no longer lit at night and no longer flashing messages to those passing by. These were sad times indeed.

PI Update: The PI Bypass

As 2014 was coming to a close, construction along Hill Street on Pleasure Island was about to make that passage impossible to maintain in a safe manner. So it was necessary to build a "bypass" pedestrian causeway around Pleasure Island. Pedestrians would join it on the western end near the balloon ride and follow it around BET Soundstage, Adventurers Club and Paradiso 37. It would connect back to the Island just east of Paradiso at the Hub. Once this was opened, the teardown of the front of 8TRAX and the shops that would go in in front of Mannequins could commence. This would remain operational for much of 2015.

 

AAHZ Is ON!

DJ Kimball Collins (USA) has confirmed to Orlando Entertainment News that the annual AAHZ Reunion is ON for Thanksgiving Eve at The Beacham. This year that's Wednesday, November 22nd. We'll keep you updated on lineup announcements and advance ticket links.
