Club Reports: NYE @ Disney

Happy New Year everyone from Save Pleasure Island Blog!!
For the 8th year in-a-row, we spent our NYE at Walt Disney World.

And we began as we typically do at the village green at Disney's Boardwalk Resort where we found DJ Tony Z (USA) on the stage!

The music was mostly Top 40 hits.
This is an all-ages family dance party!
Of course we know Tony Z from his days at Atlantic Dance Hall and from other clubs as well.
At Disney's Boardwalk Resort last night, a good time was had by all.
Now into EPCOT itself for their amazing "New Years Eve Countdown Spectacular".
Making our way around the world, first stop was the United States of America where we found DJ Los (USA) on the decks!
The American Gardens stage was absolutely packed!
Playing mostly an EDM set during my visit, he also plays Latin hits.
We know DJ Los because he's been the main DJ here on NYE for years. We've also seen him at clubs such as 3Nine on International Drive.
The peeps want EDM!
At the United States of America pavilion, a good time was had by all.
This laser-bathed Venetian tower can only mean one thing: The EPCOT: Italy piazza!
DJ Mark Sanchez (USA)
Delivering us a House / Electro House set!
Because the peeps want EDM!
Mark had the piazza packed!
Spotted on the dance floor: Randy Randy from Mannequins, with Brenda.
We know Mark Sanchez from the Orlando and Daytona Beach Breaks scene.
No thumb drive here; playing off of CD's!  Mark was telling me that when this gig started years ago, he played off records. The problem was the ground staff had machines cranking out bubbles by the thousands and they would float and land on his vinyl making them wet and gooey, lol.
At EPCOT: Italy, a good time was had by all.
This dragon can only mean one thing: The EPCOT: China courtyard!
DJ Dominick Morrison (USA)
Another packed venue!
Because the peeps want EDM!
Where Italy has the lasers, China has flame shooters and that smoke-belching dragon!
Of course we know The Dom from his days at Mannequins Dance Palace on Pleasure Island!
But you can also find him nowadays in downtown Orlando on Saturdays doing EDM at Aero Bar and on many Sundays doing Techno at The Patio.
At EPCOT: China, a good time was had by all.
In Future World, the Fountain Stage was closed due to heavy construction taking place but it was moved to a side nook near Test Track.
This was the only DJ I did not recognize.
Because it was hidden, it was not as crowded as the Fountain Stage typically gets.
And while the Fountain Stage has traditionally been Top 40, it was all-EDM during my visit.
Over near Spaceship Earth, the "Silent Groove" was back for another year!
Walking by you don't hear any music but you see people dancing and many singing out loud. WTF?
Broadcasting on the Blue Channel, DJ Elliot (USA).
Broadcasting on the Green Channel, DJ Dayna (USA).
And everyone is issued headphones where you can listen to blue or green!
Singing out loud to a song from "Frozen". Seriously?
Spotted: Lindsay says she only listens to the Blue Channel.
At Silent Groove, a good time was had by all.
Circling back into World Showcase and EPCOT: United Kingdom.
The town square was jammed.
When I first arrived their resident band "British Revolution" was performing old British Top 40.
But we were here to see DJ Charles Miles (USA).
Playing from this amazing art car mobile DJ booth!
His set was all 70's Disco!
This chick was ready in her 70's bell-bottoms!

 "Dancing Queen"
Even though we were in the UK, I didn't hear anyone talking about Brexit!
At EPCOT: United Kingdom, a good time was had by all.
After the midnight fireworks show, it was time to leave EPCOT and head back to the boardwalk and Atlantic Dance Hall.
Still a few post-midnight revelers down on the floor.
Always a treat to see DJ Lindsey Leigh (USA) in the perch!
The music here Top 40 old and new.
It had definitely thinned-out from the 300+ guests who had been here earlier.
While this was a paid admission event, ADH is usually free and is open nightly except Sundays and Mondays.
Of course we know Lindsey Leigh from her dance work for singer Tiffany (USA) and for her own vocals with the Andre Caram Band (USA) as seen here.
Everywhere we went for NYE last night at Disney, a good time was had by all.

PI Update: Erwin Pearl Jewelry Closing

The website WDW Magic is reporting that Erwin Pearl Jewelry will be closing soon. Located at Pleasure Island's "Hub", we rarely saw customers in there and long ago predicted that it would be the first of the new Disney Springs stores to fail. That honor was actually earned by neighbor Sound Lion and then by several other shops. The problem with all the shops along Hill Street is that they're hidden to passersby by trees and large planters. A double whammy for Erwin Pearl Jewelry was that the only doors faced the "side road" rather than the main pedestrian thoroughfare. No one ever noticed the place.
The Blog did have "breaking news" back in October, 2016 when we spotted a customer in the shop!
They haven't announced what will replace it but our recommendation is the return of PI Live Bar!
Big thanks to Blog reader Steve Pantano for the EPJ alert!

Baby Shark (Jauz EDM Remix)

Hanging around little kids at Christmas introduced me to a not-to-be-missed song called "Baby Shark" by Pinkfong (ROK).  And as catchy as the song is, even better is the DJ Jauz (USA) EDM remix version of the song posted below! An animated Jauz even makes a couple appearances during the song. This is great stuff folks so listen; you'll thank me later!
