Club Reports: Shine, Monkey Bar, The Floridabilt, Iron Cow

Friday night began at Shine, Wall St. Plaza's main dance club.

DJ Eric Draven (USA) was in the perch delivering the music.

Small crowd initially but it always fills up fast. The music was mostly Hip Hop.....

So I wandered over to Monkey Bar.

For DJ Victor Escobar (USA).

House music had a small contingent on the dance floor.

He had people dancing in all the corners.

Monkey Bar resident DJ Dity (USA) would take over later.

Most people were hanging inside at the club's famous Inside-Outside bar.

More people were hanging outside at the club's famous Inside-Outside bar.

The Floridabilt is a new venue that just opened in what was most-recently Ferg's Depot. It's not really a club but it's a place for live music and interactive theater. Check their calendar for things like murder mystery nights and Christmas ghost story nights.

It's in a historic 1899 railroad depot built for the South Florida Railroad and later Atlantic Coast Line, right along the SunRail tracks.

Now over to our main destination of the evening, Iron Cow for the "Queens of Noise"!

Nice crowd in the club.

Promo Only Meat & Greet

DJ Pete Werner (USA) is famous as an original DJ at Mannequins on Pleasure Island but he's also famous for his amazing BBQ! And we got to experience it last night at the Promo Only Meat & Greet. Some of the pics are on our sister website Orlando Entertainment News here.

PI Update: Now & Then

Let's cross this bridge one more time to beautiful Pleasure Island to check out some of the differences between now and the recent past.

At the south end of the Motion Corridor facing Riverboat Square, this new painted citrus advertisement has been added to support the Disney Spring historical theme.

I couldn't find a picture of that wall alone in the Blog archives but that brick wall to the right of the construction walls is how it most recently appeared, including in 2014.

Interestingly, the wall appeared in pre-Disney Springs concept art and there was to be a small store front at that corner. That never happened.

With Waterview Stage now the home of nightly music including DJ concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, permanent lighting rigs were installed. The ground area has to stay free of clutter.

In earlier years, this was home to a Christmas tree at this time of the year.

DS Update: Bongos Conversion

Taking a look at Bongos Cuban Cafe as it is converted to Beatrix. This is the east side of the building. It still has the Bongos look.

The view of the west side of the building shows a much more extensive tear-out. We're told the entire structure is coming down but they sure are taking their time with it.

Club Reports: Independent Bar, Gilt Nightclub

Saturday night in Orlando and you know, absolutely know, that I got to go to I-Bar!

The mysterious DJ KC Cuts (USA) in the booth.....

.....delivering the 80's!

80's New Wave, that is.

It was so hard to leave!

But I had to get over to Gilt Nightclub.

DJ D-Day (USA) was playing mostly House with some occasional Heavy Bass.

Crowded but not packed, at least initially.

But that would soon change.

Taking over at 1:05AM.....

Opening with part of his hit "The Longest Road".

Packed to the rafters now!

He always puts on a great show.

He was weaving his own hits with songs from other artists.

 We first met Morgan Page back in 2013 at Firestone.
