Club Reports: The Patio, Celine

I don't usually go out on Sunday nights, but when I do, I go full steam! I've been hearing about "Sundown Sundays at The Patio" for months now so I finally got to check it out!
DJ's Nick Ramos & Gustavo Pisani are Rude Neighbors (USA).
Just a few people in the club when I arrived.
Sunday nights at The Patio are dedicated to Techno.
DJ Wilson Santos (USA) taking control next!
As dance floor activity slowly built.
The lasers were flying.
The bubbles were bubbling.
Of course we know Wilson from Vinyl Arts Bar.
The instigator of this weekly event, DJ Dominick Morrison (USA).
The club was quickly jammed!
The peeps want Techno!
Of course we know The Dom originally from Mannequins Dance Palace on Pleasure Island. He'll be the DJ at EPCOT: China on New Years Eve under the smoke-belching dragon!
Spotted in VIP: Aspiring journalists Lauren & Haley.
Spotted outside on a street corner: DJ Afrodisiax (USA), Mike, Pete, DJ Scotty B (USA), DJ Tooltime (USA) & Sage.
Approaching 2 years of age, the Celine rooftop has become synonymous with great DJ music!
Arrived to find DJ Wongo (AUS) on the decks!
The rooftop was packed!
He had everyone bouncing!
Operating his own label "Box of Cats", his t-shirt can be a cat if you only look at the white or a forehead if you only look at the black!
But he's also on the Dirtybird label and his set was pretty much all Dirtybird House!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls.
Spotted: Amelia & Storm moving at high speed!  At both venues last night, a good time was had by all.

Club Reports: Immerse Festival, Independent Bar, Attic Nightclub

Friday night rains washed out a lot of the Immerse Creative City Project but Saturday night was much improved as numerous downtown streets were blocked off for the event.
There was art.
There was music.
And over at the corner of Happy & Healthy, there was a.......volcano!
You know by now if it's at all possible on a Saturday night, I'm going to visit Independent Bar.
The mysterious DJ KC Cuts (USA) was in the booth.

Spotted in VIP: Roxanne with DJ Parry (USA.
80's New Wave brings out the crowd!
The crowd a mix of all ages, races & persuasions!
Some were having more fun than others, lol!
Everyone loves the 80's!
Now over to Attic Nightclub.
Las Vegas-based DJ Jeff Retro (USA) spotted prior to heading up to the booth.
Opening with Martin Garrix (NL) hit "Animals", he would deliver a Las Vegas-style megaclub show, although on a much smaller scale of course!
Attic Nightclub was as crowded as I've seen it this past year.

A graduate of UCF and back for homecoming, Jeff Retro got the club rocking for Knights' sports chant "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation (B).

The lasers were flying!
Earlier this year in Las Vegas we spotted Jeff Retro in the booth at Hakkasan Nightclub at the MGM Grand.

And last year in the booth at Omnia Nightclub Terrace at Caesars Palace! He just returned from an Asia tour that included headlining at clubs in Shanghai, Taipei, Macau & Bangkok!

The peeps want EDM!
A good time was had by all.

EDC Update: Main Stages Over The Years

The main stage at EDC-Orlando is always the kineticFIELD stage. The 9th Edition of EDC-Orlando is just 3 weeks away so let’s look back at the main stage during each previous year. During the first year in 2011, this was the kF stage. It was their smallest main stage ever. That's not unexpected for a fledgling new festival.
In 2012 the stage was still relatively small but it grew some side panels.
In 2013 the stage grew larger. It’s the only year so far where there was a semi-circular design.
In 2014 the stage grew so large that it was relocated to McCracken Field instead of Tinker Field. It was the only year so far that the main stage was not immediately adjacent the football stadium. The circuitGROUNDS stage instead occupied that spot. This stage was called the Electric Cathedral.
Lit up at night with waterfalls and fireworks, it remains my favorite over the years!
In 2015 the owl returned again as a theme to the kineticFIELD main stage and the stage returned to its traditional spot at Tinker Field adjacent the (then) Citrus Bowl stadium.
At EDC-Orlando in 2016, the stage had grown to tremendous proportions!
In 2017 the owls returned for another year, flanking this huge kF stage!
Then last year 2018, their largest Orlando stage ever!

At night, you might see it lit up in red.

Or in green or in a magnificent blue! What will the 2019 stage look like? We know it will be so gigantic that they had to relocate it to land east of Camping World Stadium for the first time ever. You need to come out to EDC on November 8-9-10 and see it! Single day tickets as well as All day passes are available here.

DS Update: HOB Staying!

Apparently, House of Blues is not moving anywhere!
Back in 2010 the Blog first reported a rumor that House of Blues was going to close and then updated the rumor that they weren't actually closing but relocating to downtown Orlando, possibly to Church Street Station. Of course, it never happened.
Then in late 2016 we published another rumor saying that when HOB's lease was up in 2019, they were out of there. This followed Disney allegedly forcing House of Blues to cancel their immensely popular Sunday night "Service Industry Night" following an alleged rape outside the club. We're told Disney exerts strict control of music artists and music genres that are allowed to play there. This time the rumor was that they were moving to International Drive. The year 2019 is quickly coming to an end though and they're not moving. So we followed-up with our 2016 source and the answer was that House of Blues restaurant and club simply make too much money right where they're at in Disney Springs. So they're not going anywhere. And ultimately, that's what it's all about.

DS Update: Vacancies

Bongos is closed and will be replaced by Chicago-based Beatrix. The menu is full of choices for the health-conscious so it seems doubtful that I'll ever eat there. On the other hand, I never ate at Bongos either.
Curl by Sammy Duval is gone. Not aware of what is coming to replace it.
Ron Jon Surf Shop now finally has a sign so it should be opening soon. Not pictured, Trophy Room also closed recently and there is nothing on the door indicating what's coming next.  Stay tuned to the Blog for the latest Pleasure Island and Disney Springs info!
