Club Reports: Whole Enchilada, Eve Nightclub, Shots Orlando, Bikkuri Lounge

Downtown Winter Park is known for its upscale shops and restaurants but downtown Winter Garden is becoming known for its upscale nighttime music scene!

The newly-opened Whole Enchilada is a restaurant downstairs but they have an awesome rooftop bar upstairs!

Last night DJ Ish (USA) was providing the background music for the night!

Just a block away from the acclaimed Crooked Can Brewery, Whole Enchilada has a full bar.

The DJ had the crowd dancing!

The music a mix of old and new Top 40. The Blog is way-overdue for a downtown Winter Garden music article but in the meanwhile you can check out this one from 2014 here.

Now to downtown Orlando and Eve Nightclub.

DJ A-Rock (USA) on the decks playing mostly EDM!

We know A-Rock from such clubs as Tier, Vanity and Vixen.

Sadly there was literally no one here during my visit.  I'm told they draw a late crowd. Great music so I sure hope so!

Relatively new to the downtown scene is Shots Orlando.

A high-rise DJ booth has been added since we last visited.

DJ Rincon (USA) in the booth playing EDM during my visit!

A sister club to Shots Miami, this place was packed!

Although it's more of a stand and chit-chat place than a dancing place.

Of course we know DJ Rincon from his nights at House of Blues in Disney Springs and currently as the Wednesday night resident DJ at The Groove in CityWalk.

OK, it may say "SUSHI" on the outside, but come around back and you'll find Bikkuri Lounge with dance music on the inside!

Arrived fashionably late to find DJ Bradley Drop (USA) in the booth playing Breaks!

The dance floor was highly-populated!

Club Reports: Remix Records, Vinyl Arts Bar

Remix Records is a traditional record store like you remember from back in the day.

And it's loaded with vinyl!

On the first Friday of every month, they have live DJ's. Last night the legendary DJ Sandy (USA) was spinning wonderful Old School Breaks!

The customers were dancing in the aisles!

Last month at Bar B he had me 95.3Party-nostalgic with Mon-A-Q's "Stay In Love". Last night it was Mix Factory hit "Take Me Away"!  Off vinyl, of course!

Great Dance tracks available!

Around 11:30pm, another veteran DJ Si-Dog (USA) taking over the decks!

Such a great atmosphere amid this sea of vinyl records!

House music all night long!

Just about all non-vocal House.

Vinyl Arts Bar is built into an old house. It's just like your house but happens to have a shiny disco ball and DJ booth in the living room!

And a bar in the kitchen!

And hookahs in the family room!

Plenty of requisite build-ups and drops!

First time ever seeing Kriss Salas.

And a good time was had by all!

PI Update: Signs Of The Times

The backstory for Pleasure Island was on this plaque located on the Island side of the original No. 2 Bridge near Mannequins.

On the opposite side of the No. 2 Bridge was this directional sign.

One of the signs on the outside of Rock'N'Roll Beach Club. This remained in place long after the club closed.

Now located in its third location, the original Harley-Davidson store was located at the Hub between Mannequins and PI Live Bar.  This location originally housed clothing store Changing Attitudes and after H-D moved to the West Side, it was home to another clothing store, Apricot Lane.

Signs on the Comedy Warehouse building remained long after it closed too.

Pleasure Island's Waterfront was home to the Waterfront Stage which begat the Waterside Stage in Marketplace and later the newer Waterview Stage on the Island.  Article.

BET Soundstage Club became simply Soundstage Club when the sponsorship with BET expired. After the club closed, it too had signs remaining long afterwards.

Parking Lot F was located next to Mannequins!

Located on a fence at the eastern end on Pleasure Island, this sign presumably pointed in the direction of the clubs.

First Friday of the month means great DJ's at Remix Record Shop on Mills in Orlando. This month they have both DJ Sandy (USA) and DJ Si-Dog (USA).  Free.  Classic Breaks.

"Wake and Break" is back for another edition and the Blog is overdue for a visit! This month the line-up at Bikkuri Lounge includes resident DJ Rich D but also Si-Dog (USA), Supagroover (USA), Funkbaby (USA) and more!  Breaks.

FRIDAY AUG 3
When he's not opening for world-class Trance DJ's, DJ Agni (USA) does his own shows and this Saturday night at Peek Downtown he'll be playing his mix more on the House side of the aisle. With Kyle Houser (USA) and more!  Deep House / Progressive House.

MONDAY AUG 6
Delivering that Dirtybird sound that is increasingly becoming its own genre, DJ Justin Jay (USA) will be playing Monday night at Gilt Nightclub.  Last saw him in March in Miami here.  House.
