Club Reports: Peek Downtown, Tier Nightclub

Celebrating the holiday weekend last night at Peek Downtown with some "Red White & Booty"!

Arrived early and found Tampa's DJ Eddie Light in the new DJ booth located in front of the window.

The dance floor had some early volunteers on it!  The music was Breakbeats although I swear Eddie had some Deep House in there!

Around 11:45PM illDJChrisB (USA) took over the controls!

Action was quickly picking up!

Chris introducing DJ duo KMFX (USA) which is DJ Keith MacKenzie & DJ Fixx. Last saw them play at the Mile High Massive in Tampa back in May.

No matter who he's opening for, he has this uncanny ability to play just the right stuff to elevate the mood of the crowd!

And indeed, the place was packed!

For the former #1 DJ in the world, Paul Oakenfold (GB)!

Oakie delivering both vocal & non-vocal House / Electrohouse songs! Known for Trance, I don't recall hearing any last night.

The first "big name" DJ concert I ever went to was at the massive Destiny Nightclub to see Oakenfold along with DJ Sandra Collins (USA)!

Oakenfold was pretty animated last night with plenty of fist-pumping and waving to the crowd below!

I give credit to Oakenfold for creating the massive DJ scene that now exists in Las Vegas when he became resident DJ at Rain Nightclub in the Palms Casino Resort. That led to all the other casinos opening their own dance clubs with world-class DJ's performing!

PI Update: Is AC Coming Down Or Isn't It?

This is the concept art that is posted on the Island showing Adventurers Club turned into The Edison.  Does that not look like the old AC building renovated?

There's no doubt the interior has been gutted.  But are they tearing it down completely or is the exterior framework structure going to remain?

In our June 24th article we asked, Is AC Coming Down?  In our June 28th article we simply stated, AC Demolition Continues.

But now we're not sure one way or the other.

With the sides and roof structure still in place after more than a week of "demolition", it looks more likely that the superstructure of Adventurers Club will live on to be part of The Edison.

DTD Update: Garage Updates

I know many of you car park fans won't be able to enjoy your holiday weekend without an update from the East Garage. Here's the latest look from earlier today taken from our Save Pleasure Island Blog SkyCam.

Another look at the mostly-open West Garage.

Overpass and new entry construction at Buena Vista Drive.

Of course you know that a new ramp being built in the woods will lead drivers directly into the West Garage.

It will only be accessible for drivers headed westbound on I-4 who use the on-ramp to northbound SR536 / Epcot Center Blvd where this new ramp will give them the option to head directly to Disney Springs. This should take a lot of traffic off SR535, Hotel Plaza Blvd & Buena Vista Drive.  It will do nothing for traffic leaving Disney Springs though.

PI Update: Joffrey's Soft Opening

Joffrey's Tea Traders Cafe was doing a soft opening today for Cast Members only. Can't wait to try their sweet tea.

They should be open to the general public for the holiday weekend.

PI Update: Taking A Disney Cruise

There's nothing like a Disney cruise!

 Biggest event of the weekend is DJ Paul Oakenfold (GB) at Tier on Saturday night.  Will sell out!

While just around the corner it's a holiday celebration called "Red, White & Booty" Breaks at Peek Downtown with DJ Keith Makenzie & DJ Fixx (both USA), illDJ Chris B (USA) , Tampa's DJ Eddie Light and more! 

The Joint in Daytona Beach has DJ AK1200 (USA) this Friday night as well for D&B!.

More Breaks at Peek Downtown with DJ Security, Prophet Bob, JG$ and more!

More Breaks going on over at Native Social Bar on Saturday night with resident DJ Micro (USA) in the booth!

DTD Update: DisneyQuest Closing

Disney confirmed earlier today that DisneyQuest will close some time next year.  Here are more details from the Orlando Sentinel.  DQ will be replaced with the previously announced The NBA Experience at Downtown Disney.  (Although we would expect that to be changed to Disney Springs by the time it opens).  Interestingly, the Blog published a rumor back in June, 2009 that DQ was closing to become an ESPN Zone restaurant.  That was the same article where we predicted that they were going to put Princess Dianna's gowns in the Virgin Megastore space!
