Concert Report: DJ Ferry Corsten (Firestone Live)

Saturday night at Firestone Live!

DJ Evo (Suite B Lounge, Bikkuri Lounge) was on the boards when I arrived!

Evo had opened for Aly & Fila (ET) in this very spot last November!

Last night he was mixing some House with mostly Trance.  At midnight DJ Bash DropR3con (Suite B Lounge) joined him for a half hour.

But everyone was here for Ferry!

Packed in all directions!

You could feel the energy in the room!

Finally at 12:30am.....DJ Ferry Corsten (NL) came on!

Always smiling, always happy plying his craft!

The music a mix of the Trance he is famous for plus more than a fair share of Vocal Electrohouse hits!

Huge crowd on hand for the currently ranked #43 DJ in the world per finicky DJMag readers.

In reality, few do it better and he's top 10 in my book!

Ferry last played Orlando in November at EDC, taking turns with Marcus Schultz (USA) doing business as New World Punx!

Blowing the place up near the end with his 2006 mega-hit and Mannequins classic "Fire"!

I was so so hoping he'd play that other Mannequins staple, 
"Rock your body Rock" but it just didn't happen.

But it was an incredible night nonetheless.....

.....and I'd be remiss if I didn't say that a good time was had by all!

Club Reports: Independent Bar, Vyce Lounge, Vanity Nightclub, Vixen Bar

After consecutive weekends in Jacksonville, Toronto & Nassau, felt great to be finally back in Orlando!

Kicking off a Friday night at Independent Bar with resident DJ Indie John in the booth.

As this was the first stop, the dance floor was just beginning to fill.

The music mostly Indie with a bit of House.

Spotted in VIP: Orlando celebrity CJ chillin' with I-Bar Thursday night resident DJ Smilin' Dan.  Dan is a finalist for Orlando's top DJ in a poll currently being conducted by Orlando Weekly newspaper.  Vote here.

Spotted: Orlando celebrity CJ hangin' with Sarah of the Rollins Girls trio.

The club continued to crowd-up.

Couldn't find a sign yet for new club Vyce Lounge.  Vyce is in the location most recently vacated by The Fifth.

DJ Jimmy Joslin in the booth spinning Top 40/Dance. Joslin is also a finalist in that Orlando Weekly popularity contest.

Very crowded.  With no discernible dance floor, people that were dancing just kind of did it where they happened to be standing.

Not a lot of changes made from it's former role.  Tables that stood on the floor along this wall have now been replaced with raised VIP booths.

Moving upstairs to relatively new club Vanity.

Now you're talking!  CityWalk's DJ Leony in the booth pumping out House/Dance!

Dance floor was packed!

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!

A real swinger, part of the Friday night "Madhouse" at Vanity!

Highly recommend this place!

Adventures In Charity Returning

Adventures In Charity is returning again this year, taking place again on the "final night" anniversary weekend of when the clubs on Pleasure Island closed in 2008.  At the AIC event, more than a dozen Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse cast members will appear doing original comedy with net proceeds going to charity.  Taking place at the Holiday Inn Resort on SR535 in Lake Buena Vista, ticket prices begin at just $25!  And you can make it a real fun time by staying at the hotel for just $62/nite!  Full details, the line-up and ticket purchases can be made here.

DTD Update: Construction Zones

The Blog has covered the latest construction taking place on Pleasure Island itself so today we're going to bounce around greater Downtown Disney to show you the large number of construction zones all seeing current work taking place. This shot is on the far east side of Parking Lot E in front of Pleasure Island, adjacent T-REX Cafe.  You may recall that even much of T-REX itself sits in the location of the former valet parking circle.

This is where Pollo Campero most recently stood, the McDonald's prior to that.

Of course there is the massive West Parking Garage project.

And in the former Bongo's Lawn, the future Food Truck Park.

Way out beyond House of Blues on the edge of the O/P/Q Lots, a castmember service building of sorts.

Vertical construction taking place on The Boathouse restaurant on the eastern tip of PI.

And nearing completion at the eastern tip of Village Lake, the new pedestrian bridge to DTD from Saratoga Springs Resort along with the new water taxi stop for the Marketplace.  As you can see, lots going on!
