Concert Report: The Road To Miami (Tavern East)

First time visit ever to The Tavern located in a strip center along Alafaya Trail in east Orlando.
And last night home to "The Road To Miami", the annual event preceding Miami Music Week.

Brought to us by Shaun Kerr of Fully Loaded Entertainment and Thomas Toole of Best of Breaks Promotion Group.

The event began at Noon but we arrived closer to 5PM to find this impressive stage.

And on it, DJ Amber Jane (USA).

It's always a great night when Amber Jane is playing.

It was early but already a contingent on the dance floor.

No surprise but this was a night dedicated to Breaks.

The tech booth had a crew of three making sure a quality product was delivered.

Shortly after our arrival the next act came on.

DJ Rob-E (USA) was in the club!

He had played on the kineticFIELD main stage at EDC-Orlando last November.

Freaky Frank was in the club so you knew right away this was going to be a fun night.

Strike a pose.

That look you get from great Breaks.

And then, there they were! Direct from Bedrock, DJ duo The Flintstonerz (USA).

Consisting of DJ Spark-D and DJ J-ROK.

They've performed individually at many of the same shows in the past but teamed-up as a duo last year and compliment each other well.

Dance floor was getting interesting.

Lots of Breaker chicks on hand.

A little after 7:30PM, one of our favorites.

DJ Berto (USA)

He was pretty animated during his set.

The lasers began flying.

Good vibes.

Meanwhile outside.....

Also outside, a second stage on The Tavern patio where we found DJ Kris Kokopelli (USA).

Back inside, NLP was in the club!

Last night delivered by DJ Matrix (USA).....

and DJ Supagroover (USA).

So many great memories from these two at their monthly events at Suite B Lounge and Vixen Bar downtown.

Dance floor was getting active.

That look you get from great Breaks.

Post set, Supagroover and Matrix with MC MB (USA).

Checking outside, DJ Celestial (USA) playing House.

We ran into so many peeps last night from the scene. Some were new but many we knew.

This portion of the program was brought to you by Sina Hard Seltzers, now available in the central Florida market at Total Wine stores.

Close to 9:30PM, DJ duo Mike & Sweet Charlie (USA).

Bringing back the "Bounce" sound.

Checking the Blog archives, we haven't seen Mike Nice play individually since 2018 at Bikkuri Lounge and haven't seen Sweet Charlie play since 2020 outside Ace Cafe. We haven't seen them play together as a duo since 2021 at the "Gemini Party" inside Ace Cafe.

That look you get from great Breaks.

There was a competing Breaks event over in Satellite Beach ft. DJ Magic Mike (USA) and DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA) so two events on the same night probably impacted both crowds.

We had two other events we planned to attend last night but the music here was just too good to leave!

Up next, the instigators of last night's festivities.

Going mostly Old Skool on us. Since much of the old stuff were Breakbeats.

DJ Swagkerr (USA)

DJ Tooltime (USA)

Dance floor probably reached capacity during their set.

That look you get from great Breaks.

Not everyone hung-out on the dance floor. There was a large bar at the rear of the venue and there was always a gathering back there too.

With one of the lovely bar staff members delivering my Tito's & Tonic!

Green beer for St. Patrick's Day was available too.

More peeps!

Up next, Todd Walker as Hyde from famed duo Jackal & Hyde (USA).

The music more on the Electro side of the spectrum.

We still recall that night in 2016 at Gilt Nightclub when Jackal & Hyde delivered a Hardcore Electro Breaks set that brought the crowd to a frenzy!

Last night's crowd was thinning-out though.

But for those here, Hyde had everyone bouncing.

Checking back outside, Celestial's set was ending DJ Fun-D-Mentlz (USA) was taking over.

Joined by DJ Drizzy (USA), her set went fast-paced DnB on us.

After midnight now and back inside, the dance floor had become busier again.

David Noller is DJ Scratch-D (USA).

As part of duo Dynamix II in the mid-80's, he had an array of big hits in the Electro Breaks scene that included "Give The DJ A Break".

Such a fun night.

That look you get from great Breaks,

Closing out the evening outside, DJ Love Lee (GB/USA).

Always love seeing her!

Just in time for Easter, more peeps!

Beyond 1AM and time for one more set on the main stage beginning with Sarasota-based DJ James Wolfe (USA).

And Miami-based DJ Robotic (USA).

The dance floor was past its peek but a contingent was.....

.....staying until it was over!

Both Robotic and James Wolfe are part of this massive lineup at "The Get Down At Sunshine State of Bass" taking place on Friday & Saturday nights of Miami Music Week. OEN will have coverage but you really need to be there in person. Both 1-Night & 2-Night tickets are available here.

Such a great show and a good time was had by all. Hope to see you in Miami!
