Trip Report: Washington DC

The 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC is one of the most famous addresses in the world.
Day trip to the District yesterday included a visit to the White House. Tall steel barriers had been erected during the demonstrations a few months ago but they have been removed. But Pennsylvania Avenue itself is blocked off by concert style barriers you can't see in this photo and you can no longer cross the street to go up to that fence. Marked cars from the Secret Service are parked along the road. Donald Trump was out campaigning so was not at home.

Washington's Reagan National Airport has a station directly on the Washington Metro Blue Line. It's the best airport to use when visiting DC. To get my bargain fare I used Washington's Dulles International Airport which is nearly an hour out of the District. The Metro will soon have a station directly at Dulles too on the Silver Line but for now a bus connection from the airport to the nearest Metro station is required.
