Trip Report: Rocky Mountan National Park

This weekend was time for one of my Frontier Airlines cheap getaways. If you can operate with just a backpack that fits under the seat in front of you, there can be some amazing deals when you fly Frontier. I've flown to San Diego for $18 each way and Las Vegas for $29 each way.  In a couple months it will be NYC for $14.99 each way!  On approach to Denver International Airport with the front range of the Rockies running north-south west of the city.
DEN is a beautiful modern airport.
I-25 northbound, headed to the Rockies!
US 36 westbound towards Estes Park, Colorado.
The mountains getting closer and closer!
Downtown Estes Park is the bedroom community for Rocky Mountain National Park. After a nice lunch and souvenir shopping, it was time to head in!
Crossing into the park at over 8000' above sea level.
US36 merges with US34 ahead and becomes the highest paved through-road in the country, passing through 12,183' elevation. The road ahead is already closed for the winter.
We had snow flurries coming down at this point!
Mount Dora and Clermont can't compare to this!
Absolutely spectacular!
