| Ten years ago today, SAVE PLEASURE ISLAND BLOG was launched! Why? Because a few weeks earlier the news broke that Disney would be closing all the clubs at Pleasure Island yet very little effort was being made by anyone to get them to reverse the decision. Yes, there was an online petition on the subject plus another one just for Adventurers Club. Everyone I knew was in disbelief but there was no movement to stop it. So the Blog was created to get everyone interested in the cause to resist. Over the coming months we gave an overview about Pleasure Island, reported on who to write to complain, reported on reasons and rumors. As it became apparent the closure would really occur and people started asking me where I would be hanging-out afterwards, the Blog evolved into also researching other club options playing Pleasure Island styles of music, in particular electronic dance music which was beginning to surge. Today our mission continues, reporting on the latest news from our beloved Island, electronic music and the Orlando DJ scene. Since no good idea ever dies at Disney, I hope the old Discovery Island could some time in the future be reimagined in to the new PI.
