Club Reports: Eve Nightclub, Bikkuri Lounge

I'm always torn between my love for House, Trance, Breaks & Dance.  Last night I would get my fill of the first two!  Starting off at Eve Nightclub!

Arrived to find veteran DJ Carlos Mendoza (USA) in the booth doing House!

Dance floor was already crowded...and growing...when I got there!

Music mostly non-vocal House music.

And then around 12:30AM, there he was!  DJ Rony Seikaly (USA).

The tallest DJ in the world, the former NBA star is now famous for his Sugarfree Radio show on Sirius/XM satellite radio!

Dance floor got crazy like real House music can do to you!

And it got packed!

Born in Lebanon, he played college basketball at Syracuse University and then in the NBA his career included stints with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic!

Lots of cheering as his music selections delivered the ups and downs consistent with Progressive House music.

You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!

Great vibe!  Eve is the place to be on Friday nights with Carlos Mendoza and next week DJ Austin Leeds (GB) is guest DJ here; on May 20th DJ Technasia (HK) will be here! Wow!

I hated to leave that but I also had a ticket for Bikkuri Lounge, located on the back side of this nondescript restaurant in Orlando's "Noodle District"!

Switching my night over from House to Trance, DJ Adam Ellis (GB) already on the decks when I arrived!

Ellis is from Sheffield, England, honorary home town of Trance!

Dance floor was jammed here too!

Trance music all night long!

Spotted in VIP: DJ Suzy Solar (USA), hostess & promoter for these "Lost In Trancelation" events at Bikkuri!  Suzy opens for DJ Simon Patterson (GB) on May 19th at Venue 578!

Friday Funny: PUSH Spotted!

Can you believe that it's been 6 years since PUSH ran for Mayor of Tomorrowland?  In October of that year, Save Pleasure Island Blog made our one and only political endorsement ever.  That year, we recommended readers vote for PUSH.  Sadly, he did not win and like many other political losers, he was never heard from again!

Until this past weekend!  I was walking in the Disney Springs Orange Garage, Level 2 and there he was! PUSH! No longer working at Tomorrowland, he was standing silently against an elevator wall. Still embarrassed by his mayoral loss, he wouldn't speak to me.  But based on his uniform, he apparently now works full time for the Reedy Creek Improvement District!

PI Update: Fast-Tracked?

Pleasure Island is still the place to be, so come cross the No. 5 Bridge one more time and check out all the construction updates!

At what is reported will become Walt's or Walt's Place, construction progress seems to have become fast-tracked!

Back up in the air with our SkyCam!  When BET Soundstage was demolished early last year here, months of nothingness followed.  But suddenly, perhaps because more heavy construction workers have become available, one can see gains made daily!

This is going to be a relatively high structure when it's done.

Next door at The Edison Orlando, A/C equipment has already been added to the roof.  Another example supporting the notion that these last projects have been fast-tracked.

The angle of the sun prevented much of a look into the lower level beneath West End Plaza, supposedly the future home of Neverland Tunnels.

Since the entrance to Neverland Tunnels was reported to be via the basement of Walt's Place, it's possible that the Tunnels will not only be beneath the Plaza but also beneath Walt's!

There are several hidden speakeasy bar/lounge concepts around Orlando and perhaps this will be Disney's attempt to emulate that. Only the cool people will know about it!

Peek Downtown is Orlando's home of Breaks and it should be a great night with DJ KJ of K5, Dave Gluskin, Davie-D and more!  Breaks.
