Columnist Scott Joseph of the Orlando Restaurant Guide is reporting that the space pictured above in our SkyCam exclusive photo will be home to two new venues, Walt's & Neverland Tunnels! |
First of all Neverland Tunnels. You know the Blog has been reporting for more than a year that The Tunnels were slated to occupy that underground area pictured at the rear of the above photo. We just did not know what it would be but Joseph provides more details about the underground bar.
Meanwhile, Walt's will be a restaurant in the dirt area pictured above where BET Soundstage used to stand. The Blog also listed Walt's more than two years ago when we published two boards of possible tenant logos. Scott Joseph's full article is here.

so this article is basically saying there will be a bar/lounge downstairs in the old Soundstage Building? Will there be a dance floor and a DJ in there though....??
No, it's saying that the bar/lounge will be under the old westside plaza and to get to it you would have go go through the downstairs of the Edison and Walt's
For the first time since 2008 I'm actually putting Downtown Disney back on my list of places to want to go again. But it's very guarded. Disney has the potential to really make something great again with The Edison, if there's live entertainers like they have in LA complete with flappers. Hopefully a dance floor. The Hangar bar is cool and I love the idea of Walt's. But I'm most excited to see what the potential is for the Neverland Tunnels. That could be amazing. Hope, hope hope it has a DJ, a dance floor and dancers like Mannequins had. Would be so cool to have Peter Pan themed costumes for cast members. I wonder if the revolving dance floor will ever be moved to a Disney club or if it's being used at Morimotos for a turning food server or something. Morimoto Asia is beautiful but a true replacement for Mannequins would really make me happy. They also need a World of Color type show and outdoor dance party like the Mad T Party would really make it happen.
The "Tunnels" project below Edison (from what we see today) doesn't appear to have a lot of height, so I'm not sure a full-blown club concept could be built there unless they move out into the dirt area. About "Walt's" -- if referring to Mr. D. himself -- would not be very compatible with a dance club and wild night life like we had in the past. I'm not sure enough information has been released to get a good picture of what they're going to do, so more patient waiting for me...
Oh yes, I know Walt's will be a restaurant and I was thinking the same think you said that the Tunnels don't have a high roof. The rest was just a general wish list.
