| These electrical transformers were located in a cage directly along the outside wall of 8TRAX at its junction with Mannequins. We were told years ago by a reliable source that Mannequins could never be torn down because the power grid of Pleasure Island was located at the rear of the club. So for the past 6 years we've repeated the mantra that Mannequins was not going to be demolished. And as other club buildings fell to the wrecking ball, that remained true. |
Although the Mannequins building won't get razed, Save Pleasure Island Blog roving reporter William was out on the Island this past Monday afternoon and discovered the two transformers have been removed! Does this mean the power grid is being moved after all or are they simply bringing in brand new and/or more powerful replacement? Interesting. Tomorrow on the Blog we'll show you something else that's now missing!

NOW wait a min! they can not remove the power grid? and I thought it was INSIDE the Mannequins/8TRAX building? HUH?

Buddy there is a county permit to turn it into a restaurant so it is not being taken down.
there was other permit for so called other work! so this means nothing till......
No one said anything about the power grid, just the transformers. And brand new equipment may replace it. So let's watch.
Only permits I'm aware of is one for roof work, one to remove the Pleasure Island sign and one for restaurant work inside Mannequins and 8TRAX.
If they had any sense they would fix not only the transformers, but the clubs as well.
P.S. Again it's sad to see P.I. dead compared to what it was eight years ago.
Anything is possible when you cut the power to the whole island....
Mannequin's, is NOT coming back sad to say, even if whatever replaces it fails flat on it's face (that's a bet I would take IMHO) it still isn't coming back
Disney has the POWER to do anything they want! as in if they want Mannequins/8TRAX to come down it will even OF the power grid is inside? might take a lot longer BUT can be done! I have seen buildings taken down RIGHT next to each other! I mean with in inches of each other!
Mannequins and 8TRAX are now hemmed-in by brand new construction. If there was any plan to demolish them they would have done that before they built new things attached to them.
