Hot Dog Hall of Fame has opened at Universal CityWalk! The outdoor dining venue is located where the seldom-used Galaxy snack bar used to be. HDHOF is a Schussler Creative concept, the guy that brought you Rainforest Cafe and T-REX Cafe. |

Hope it stays open late.. nothing like a great hot dog after a night at City Walk! Right now, it's usually Juniors Columbian Burger on Kirkman...
I agree with Ray. It seems CityWalk has got it going with nightlife and food. Not sure Disney Springs is even going to be able to compete, I'm still puzzled that Disney is not spilling the beans with at least a little more information to start building interest and anticipation of Disney Springs.
The lack of "buzz" and direction at Pleasure Island over the years has seen me and many of my friends explore and discover many hidden gems in the greater Orlando area. It appears Disney is banking entirely on developing a whole new clientele for Disney Springs without regard to those in the past who spent a lot of money and enjoyed a lot of time there.
If they would build it right, I think we would come and give Universal a helluva run for their money. Right now Universal is running circles around Disney leadership. Disney shareholders should be very angry.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster vs Escape from Gringott's. Who wins?
Not even a question! We have never seen the movies, never read the books...by far the most immersive "land" experience we have seen at any theme park. We were even part of the opening day for Gringotts Bank (and official opening of Diagon Alley.) Insane lines, crazy crowds, but by far... the best experience in Orlando right now!
And the really scary story? That Disney is coming up with Avatar Land. That's going to be a lot of investment with, to me, no real indication that the Avatar franchise is going to come even close to what Universal has with the Potter franchise. What if the Avatar sequels flop? What indications does Disney have that we don't see? It's going to be an interesting nail-biter. But the good news for Disney is that lots of people do, in fact, plop down a lot of money for crummy films. But all of this aside, Disney does have Star Wars which they can whip out at some time in the future. So maybe in the end Disney will win by sheer size and diversity of parks. But for the moment we have a solid home run from Universal. Competition is good!
