Save Pleasure Island Blog continues to hear rumors about Mannequins and Comedy Warehouse reopening next year in some form. We don't know whether they are slated to reopen in their former locations as clubs or whether they will reopen as Attractions at one of the theme parks. For instance, it seems highly likely that Comedy Warehouse will reopen at Disney Hollywood Studios as holiday-only attraction as it did last year. But as something family-friendly, why not also reopen it in its former spot on Pleasure Island after that?

Just read an article about no less than six new businesses coming to Gainesville in the next few months (including Trader Joes! YEAH!) and two or three are relocating to bigger venues. One of the new venues includes the reopening of Simons Nightclub on Main Street downtown. If we can get all this here in little G-Rock, I just don't understand all that empty real estate in DTD. Weird!
Jeff, the Blog will be covering the rebirth of Simon's sometime in October. Back in the day, my travel agency used to fly some big name DJ's into GNV for Simon's! Thanks for your report.
Thanks for the update, now lets see if they can reopen the clubs at P.I. not the parks, so everyone can have a great time.
I really hope it's true but am skeptical. Usually, the first sign that something is coming would be Disney filling for some building permits. Of course, that assumes they wouldn't just reopen it exactly the same as it was. I'm sure they'd have to do some updating. Given that it's September, there's no way October is realistic. I think even December would be pushing it. That's not to say plans aren't in the works but I'll hold my enthusiasm until I hear those permits have been filed.
Anon 9:20, I believe the rumor is that an announcement will be made in October--so all construction will fall within Fiscal Year 2013 (WDW fiscal years run October to October, that's why PI was closed the last weekend in September).
I don't think King Bob or anyone else expects clubs to reopen to the public in October, or even this (calendar) year.
