I came across these international editions of that controversial Downtown Disney advertisement and thought I'd let you know what they translate to since I'm an international jetsetter:
ENGLISH: Have the night time of your life.
SPANISH: Spending a night here should be avoided.
GERMAN: Spending an evening here is unbelievable.
JAPANESE: Akihabara is better so why bother.
FRENCH: You should pass on a night here.
PORTUGUESE: Don't waste a night of your life here.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATOR AND THUS THESE TRANSLATIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON IN ANY MANNER. IN FACT, DOWNTOWN DISNEY IS A GREAT PLACE AND SO IS PLEASURE ISLAND SO COME OUT AND HAVE THE NIGHT TIME OF YOUR LIFE.

LOL!!! 4 out of 6 of them I agree with...well, atleast now. Thanks for the smiles Bob!
Night of your life, and why is that?
I wish the clubs were reopend so everyone could have " The night of their lives".
So Bob (and readers) though you are probably NOT much of a soap opera fan (ha ha) you may have heard that ABC/Disney pulled the plug on two of its three soap operas. Why would I mention that here...well obviously any business has to make hard choices when something.. be it a club or a show etc.. isn't performing the way it should. HOWEVER there seems to be something specifically Disney-ian about sticking a knife into something and drawing out a very slow agonizing death over YEARS. There is a striking similiarity between the fate of these 2 shows (and inevitably the third) and the death of PI with similar lies, manipulations and the stubborn denial to acknowledge needed change in order to KEEP the business thriving. And now there is a whole other huge group out there that has been betrayed and slapped across the face by Disney and who can now relate to your pain... everything the man who's name the company bares was NOT about. Sad very sad
Disney owns ABC but we don't really know at what level at either company such decisions are made. But your point is well-taken.

Disney NEVER wanted Pleasure Island! Michael Eisner wanted and got Pleasure Island! you do remember him? that is the real reason for Pleasure Island! so when he was out Disney let it die! so they could close it!
2 shows that are shutting down well that is ABC doing that!
