Club Reports: Vain, Boss, Bliss, Suite B Lounge, Crooked Bayou

Those of us who were fans of Mannequins, both the club in its earlier days when pure House, Trance & Techno ruled or in its latter days when it was mostly Dance, need to quit crying tears into our drinks and move on....move on to downtown Orlando. Because folks, this is where it's at now! The new club Vain is now open where Lyrica was earlier this year and Cairo was earlier in the decade. What's the difference between Vain and Lyrica? PEOPLE! As in, Vain is full of them. (See 6 photos above) DJ Nova (Blue Martini, Antigua) opens on Saturday nights here. I've always only heard him play Top 40 and Mash-ups but wow, he can play techno! I did not recognize him without his trademark baseball cap on. He was followed by guest DJ David Solano (Gryphon) and it went on and on.

I also stopped by new club Boss, located where Element previously operated. Just a small group here under different ownership. It's going to take some marketing to overturn the prior reputation of this locale as Element was heavy into the Hip Hop and the music in here is now more mainstream.

Bliss Ultra Lounge is as excellent as ever with DJ Mickey Bono (BeatThrillerz, Radio Dance.com) stringing out one Dance hit after another to the packed but extremely young crowd. $1 well drinks until 11:30pm makes a $5 bill in your pocket go a long way. Bono will be the Friday night DJ over at Vain beginning next weekend!

Suite B Lounge is small but it too was jammed last night for DJ D-Xtreme and his version of Progressive House and Electronica. The place was crazy with energy and the drinks in here are powerful too.

Last and perhaps least in terms of the number of patrons still hanging around is Crooked Bayou, a Louisiana-themed restaurant that serves Techno late at night. DJ Romano was spinning Progressive House to the small crowd including a couple of apparent regulars I recognized from my visit a few weeks prior. A good place to stop for a drink and actually be able to converse before moving on.

After visiting Vain last night, I don't know why they're calling it a 3D club. There were some wall decorations and some lighting that were a bit unusual so maybe that's what they're talking about.

I love the nightclub Vain. Its a great place to go. I agree. I am not sure why they call it 3D. But the between the people, the music, and the ambiance, it was all good. I will definitely go again soon.

I think the "3D" tag is a gimmicky thing which doesn't really mean anything.
