Clubs on Ships vs Clubs on Land
Furthering that discussion that was taking place over in the Comments section of last Friday's entry, we have to wonder why Disney feels it's ok to have an Adults Only nightclub section on their new cruise ship yet doesn't feel it's ok to have an Adults Only nightclub section on Pleasure Island. PI was closed under the theory that they needed to be more family friendly. They felt that night clubs were inconsistent with that. OK, then how is it that their newest ship is going to have The District, an Adults Only zone of lounges and clubs? Isn't THAT inconsistent?

Contradiction? Yes, but I gotta admit, If I'm going on a cruise, it'll definitely be on that ship. I doubt that it can deliver the many one night stands that P.I. delivered to me, but it's worth a shot. 8Trax was an excellent for "cougar hookups".
Relatively speaking, you won't find a lot of singles on Disney ships and their fares are twice or more of what the others charge. Like everything Disney though, it's a top notch experience.
But CARNIVAL & ROYAL CARIBBEAN 3-night cruises out of Port Canaveral can often be had for $150-$200pp and that includes cabin, transportation, shows and all the food you can snarf! And it's a great place to PARTY! Maybe I should organize a group outing.
I have been on the Royal Caribbean and there "night club" was well the Groove is better! and that is saying a lot!
When "Sovereign of the Seas" was here it was a pretty poor experience. The club music was all pre-taped; I heard the same tape the 3rd night that they played on the 1st night. But I've been on some Royal Caribbean ships that have been really good, especially their megaships. See my cruise club reviews this past January here in the Blog.
yeah that was the one i was on!
I was at the Groove earlier tonight(wed night) and it was way busier that any other club there...it was almost packed. I have a friend in town and was trying to show him a(new) good time! There was not much hip hop heard...mostly dance music with a packed dance floor!
Kidcapri, thank you very much for the report! I've heard that our beloved 8TRAX DJ DOC is working Wednesday nights too now at The Groove and that they've had REALLY big crowds since he's started. Unlike his 80's Night on Thursdays, he's playing a lot of Top 40 and Dance. I haven't been out to see it yet so your report is appreciated.
Sorry for the anonymous...
The Problem with P.I. is the huge number of singles (including Cast Members) and a lot of behaviors that is not what Disney wants.
No problem with anonymous postings.
I don't think you're wrong however PI was built as an admission-only adult park and people entering generally knew what they were getting. Things really began to collapse when they opened the island to everyone without having to pay. THAT is when the public crossing over PI got to meet "adults having fun." There weren't a lot of complaints prior to that.
to add to that, when PI was originally opened, it was not "Disney" it was Paramount! There were really no Disney references and even the nametags were not the same as the rest of WDW. It was meant to look like it was seperate. When they built the west side, then cut the entertainment after 9/11, then ungated the island, kept changing age requirements, and putting Disney stuff around, that all led to the end. I think everyone just took it for granted that even if it was on life support, Disney would never close such a place because they OWNED the market. Motion, BET, even RRBC, sure we could all see that, but not mannequins, 8-trax, CW,and AC. Sadly, we were wrong
Paramount? I have never heard that before! I don't think the Wikipedia article even mentions that.
