One of our Island sources is telling the Blog that the Curl by Sammy Duval store on Pleasure Island will be closing soon when their lease expires. The store is located beside the former 8TRAX dance club and had opened shortly before Downtown Disney management pulled the plug on all the clubs. The source did not know if they were closing for good or simply relocating to elsewhere in DTD. I don't know either but given the company's relationship with Disney (they have the watersports franchise for Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon), it would seem more likely that they're simply moving. And given that competitor CityWalk has a popular surfing-themed store with Quiet Flight, I think one would want to retain such a concept.
What would go in to the vacated spot? The same source reports that execs from television's Food Network were recently scouting out 8TRAX for a possible Food Network concept restaurant. As these adjoining spaces are technically in the same building, perhaps there is a relationship.

Bob, do you know when their lease expires?
but I thought the CLUBS where going to REOPEN? so the Food network can't be lookin at the 8TRAX building!
Ray, the source did not know the date.
Anon, just 'cause they're looking doesn't mean they're leasing.
I'm STILL wondering about the Facebook post, back in the fall, regarding a new lighting installation inside Mannequins along with a picture of the LED's which were suppsoed to be replacing the old lights up on the "toaster oven"? It was very exciting at the time, but there have been no updates. :(
Please provide the Facebook link because I'm not familiar with that event. Thanks.
my point is why would they let them look if it is not up for lease! because of the rumor of reopening?
Over the past 3 years the Blog has reported on dozens of rumors about the future of the club buildings. As Disney keeps changing their mind about the direction they're going to take, the story evolves. So anything is possible. I'm just the reporter.
