PI Update: Gloomy Island

With another cold front pushing through Orlando today, the sky had that gloomy winter overcast to it. So naturally what better place to spend such a gloomy day than gloomy Pleasure Island! Above at Celebration Plaza, the Purple Stage has added a regular platform. Not sure if this is just for the holidays or whether it's semi-permanent.
At club Motion, the ancient television monitors that were on both sides of the main doors have finally been pulled out of their window display cases.
Inside Motion, the result of internal demolition has led to lots of debris. Notice all the construction wall panels stacked up. The end is near!
Rock'n'Roll Beach Club awaits a similar fate however it was long-ago stripped of anything of value.
The Lily Pad area has a new look but that small area of construction remains surrounded.
The new and improved #1 Bridge is open for business.
Looking southeast over the frontier into Marketplace, one sees the soon to expand Lego store and World of Disney doing a brisk business. Indeed, parking was pretty jammed this afternoon as many Thanksgiving visitors stocked up on holiday gift items.

"So naturally what better place to spend such a gloomy day than gloomy Pleasure Island!" - I love how you are always so positive about P.I. even as the wrecking balls are getting ever closer.

Hopefully that positive attitude won't be badly spent.
It's pretty pathetic that poor gloomy PI used to be lit up with swingin nightlife for the adults.
Hopefully this new Hyperion Wharf will have alot of swinging night life for the adults.

Doubt it. If Raglan Road and Paradiso 37 are your idea of fun, then Hyperion Wharf is for you. If you liked dance and/or comedy clubs, you'll likely be disappointed with HW. All signs point to more restaurants / restaurants that are bar-like.

One can only hope there will be some "rockin" nightlife at HW.
Time is passing quickly and a new year approaches, and PI is still gloomy.

still after Disney tells you what they are doing to "PI" "you" don't get it? why not? the club scene is gone over! I don't think anyone wants to put a club on pi or whatever they are going to it!! because I wouldn't I would find a better place for it! you can find a cheaper place to rent then on Disney! if someone does they would have to charge 20 30 to get in and it will NEVER NEVER be up to the PI we knew!

It's sad to think of the fun and laughter that use to fill these nightclubs.

Construction Walls should have gone up, or will be in the next day or so around MOTiON and RRBC.

The end is indeed near.

motion was not very good! i think Disney could have made it better gotten rid of the Kitchen and made it bigger! but it is over!

Motion was "dime-a-dozen" in that it played a format you can hear all over town in clubs. It was not uniquely themed in any manner.

But gee, the place was huge and it stayed so packed. It had a loyal following just like the other PI clubs that were more unique.

And it was the last open PI club I ever set foot in when I was invited into a private event to take photos of the place!

yes Bob your correct dime a dozen!
well it was much bigger than clubs downtown Orlando and really better!
sorry my point was IS that I wish that Disney would have could have got rid of the kitchen! and made it bigger and or made an other club!

I agree. Not sure if there was a termite problem in there though or some other wet rot/dry rot, but to the left of the Motion doors you could literally press the outside of the building with a pointed finger and nearly push through. Perhaps its years of viability finally expired. Nonetheless, it is coming down soon!
